Hello!

Lately been thinking about doing my weekly shopping online. Do you think you save money? I take Mum shopping and she likes to get out but I think maybe it would be easy and cheaper.

  • I always do my groceries online. I love that I can see exactly how much I’m spending. You can also shop by specials or lowest unit price which is really handy and delivery is generally free if you spend over a certain amount! Plus I dont have to drag my kids into the supermarket lol

  • I prefer to shop instore so that I can have a look around and choose the best produce, or look out for mark downs.

  • I think it is easier but I doubt it is cheaper. I would research the Coles/Woolies websites and determine if it is for you . If your mum likes to go out, she would want to choose outside .

  • You can save money because you aren’t tempted to buy extra things like instore ,but you can pay more for doing it online and the delivery cost.

  • I don’t.
I prefer to shop in store so I know exactly what I am getting.
Also there are so many little specials that don’t get advertised which can really come in handy.
Each week I browse the catalogues & write down the specials, sometimes I save up to $100 per week!

  • The big supermarkets charge more per item if you shop online, the difference can be upto a dollar per item. However, you are not as tempted to buy impulse buys. So it is up to you. Obviously, make the most of free delivery offers.

  • It is easier and saves you money as you only buy what you need, there’s no temptation if there’s TimTams on special. If your mum enjoys the trip out, you could still take her to do hers, or treat her to coffee and cake or a movie or a walk in the park if it’s just for an outing

  • Woolies and I presume coles charge more for online shopping than the store price because they have to pay someone to pick and pack it for you. They admit this but depends if you are happy to pay extra for the convenience

  • I use woolies, free delivery if you spend over a certain amount. Some deals online that aren’t available in store and vice versa. Its more about time saving than money with me and shopping with a toddler isnt very enjoyable. I’d recommend trying it and then you can spend more time focusing on what your mum wants to do/look at

  • I have not used online but I did do a little homework a while back and actually found some item where dearer online.
COLES have free delivery on your first order and every Wednesday when you spend $100 or over.
WOOLWORTHS have free for first order and 1 month delivery saver :code SAVER2015.
    Best of Luck. :-)

  • think I will keep shopping at shops. But at later stage will probably change. If I lived away from the shops I would.

  • I WOulD

  • I think the items are the same price.

  • yeah, I am still not convinced yet. But I feel that I am changing. I will probably buy most non perishable items online.

  • I find it cheaper only because I am not walking down every isle impulse buying and buying things that I wouldn’t usually buy just because it is on special. When I shop online I am only searching for the products on my shopping list. I have found that some products are slightly dearer online but over-all it does save me time and money.

  • I think you would save money on impulse purchases. I buy so much extra stuff. But I love grocery shopping so I won’t ever do online.

  • I definitely save money! You shop to a list and less distracted by impulse purchases. I also like seeing the tally of my shopping cart as I ‘shop’. This definitely helps me work out if I really need the item or not. Woolworths have a delivery saver option which is basically a heavily discounted pre-paid delivery for a selected time period. I highly recommend going this option as it will save you heaps too! You can still have delivery at any available window during the week.

  • well it is easier and less stress. it makes it all very plain to see what you are buying plus it helps you to budget. in my case, it also allowed me to verify my choices and ditch a lot of snack foods at “checkout” lol

  • I’ve been using the online function to make my shopping list. I can sit down and browse the isles and look for specials. It gives me a good estimate of the total shop. I think it helps me stay on budget. Just remember when the new specials start/finish as this may effect total.

  • I do not do online shopping; however I am interested to know if there are any extra bonuses and incentives attached to online shopping?
