  • We went for our honeymoon. Spent 5 and a half weeks exploring the US!
I have to say that New York and New Orleans were two of our least favourite cities.
New York was just full of rude, pretentious people.
We found places like Arizona, Salem and Tennessee much better. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and the food was so so good!

  • I have never been there but a firend of mine worked there for a couple of years. If you love ice-skating apparently there is some fantastic quality skating rinks. There is a lot of reasonably priced coach tours leave from New York.

  • I have not but it is on my list to do and it would be amazing with so much to see and visit.

  • NoPe, out of our price range and also not on our wish list of things to do. Hope you enjoyed it

  • I have not been their but want to!

  • i would love to visit! this place sounds awesome!

  • Unless your wanting to go for the snow, don’t go during their winter. Think of it like waking around your local capital city when it’s -1c. Doesn’t matter how much you want to look at the buildings, all I was thinking was, let me inside the closest Macy’s! & I didn’t come out for 5 hours! I won’t regret doing the bus tour, they really tell you so much that you can’t learn any other way. It’s hop on hop off, meaning you can get on & off & walk to wherever you want & the 3 day pass was exactly what we needed.
Also we stayed across the river & caught the bus across, 15 mins to Port authority. Saves about $100 a night on hotel so when your staying 4 or more nights it’s really worth it. You have to have the most comfortable shoes you can find & be willing to walk from 9 till 9 for every day, cause the city never stops & neither do you! Must do freedom towers anything to do with 9/11, I’ve been 5 times & I still want to go back for more. You will never run out of things to do!

  • I haven’t been but would love to.

  • Thanks Mom150341! Great tips and the Guggenheim Museum would be on a must see list. :)

  • NYC is the greatest place on Earth! We stayed at the Intercontinental which was amazing and a great spot – right near Times Square. I’ve also stayed at The Roosevelt which I believe has just been renovated. Things to do are a visit to Soho, walk through Central Park, have a drink at a bar called Employees Only, dinner at Budekan or Robert, and shop shop shop. I love the Guggenheim museum and also found Ellis Island fascinating. We also walked the Brooklyn Bridge.

  • Brilliant and long answer mom74312 – very helpful.

  • I went to New York for a family ‘girls week’ away last November/December. As there was 6 of us I rented 2 different appartments. Definitley the best value for us, plus you’re living with real new yorkers. We stayed in the Union Square area 16th Street(East) and then further up 26th Street (West). There is so much to see and do……depends on who you’re with, but for us (my daughter & I) highlights were Ice-Skating at Rockefeller Centre, Breakfast with the Toy Soldiers & Tour of FAO Schwartz, Horse & Carriage Ride in Central Park, Woodbury Common, Times Square, Empire State Building. The Hop on/off bus is great – we stayed on and did a whole lap to get our bearings and then used it for 3 days to get to popular sites. We also really love the High Line, Statten Island Ferry past the Statue of Liberty and we were lucky enough to see Elton John at Madison Square Garden and the Rockettes at Radio City Hall. We will definitely be going back…….way too much to see and do. Central Park is just amazing as is just walking around, stopping at the different parks etc. Love love love New York.

Don’t be afraid to use the Subway…..a little tricky at first, but once you get the direction you want to go down pat, really easy to use and we found people were only too willing to help us with directions etc. NOt sure when you’re going, but Thanks Giving was lovely and the Christmas decorations were amazing and just beautiful

  • I’ve never been there but I would love to one day!
