  • Yes, my dad did. He went and bought a Bee hive, got stung a couple of times getting the honey, ended up allergic to bee stings and had to sell the hives

  • My son developed a severe allergy at age 13. He had been stung a few times when he was younger but did not have any allergic reactions, just your normal swelling at site of sting. I was told by gp that the venom actually stays in your system so every new time you are stung the amount stored is increased, increasing the allergic reaction each time. Sorry I can’t remember how or where doc said it stores in the system.

  • That’s a reaction to a sting

  • Allergies can develop at any time!

  • My dad did. He didn’t have an issue until we got a hive and he was stung a couple of times in quick succession. He had to get rid of the hive. I developed an allergy to cats around the age of 40. I grew up with a pet cat and dog forever, no issue. Weird ay

  • I recall reading that a Bee sting may not affect you the first time but can the second so we shouldn’t just assume we are not allergic. You may not get that 2nd sting until you’re an adult.

  • I have always been allergic to bees but remember my sister when I was younger being the brat she was chasing me with bees or going oh a bee stung me and flick the sting out with no issue now we are in our forty’s a few months back a bee stung her and she blew up like a balloon she called me and said I am so sorry for being a brat they bloody hurt so yes you can get a allergy later on in life, in my sisters case things come back to bite you lol

  • Other allergies have developed but not to bees.

  • If you’ve been stung by a bee and didn’t have a reaction, there is still a chance of reacting in the future. You can get stung many times in your life and not react and one day become allergic to it.
Always wise to have Antihistamine tablets at home

  • Yes I have a severe allergy to Bees since I was a child and it has continued on until my late 60s .I swell up like a balloon with severe redness. I have seen my GP about this before but only told me to take a Antihistamine Tablet for a few days and buy a cream called Stingos
