Hello!

Has anyone else experienced this pregnancy symptom of congestion in their nose and sinus’, sneezing all the time. The same thing happened with my first pregnancy towards 27 weeks onwards. Am I the only one?

  • Yes I did! And doctor said it’s normal. Basically everything swells during pregnancy so does the respiratory track. Smell changes as well.

  • It’s not uncommon. Pregnancy rhinitis is nasal congestion that lasts for six or more weeks during pregnancy. Rhinitis affects between 18 and 42 percent of pregnant women. It frequently affects women early on in the first trimester, and again in late pregnancy. Rhinitis can begin almost anytime during pregnancy.

  • I’ve never heard of this symptom.

  • lol my nose grew in size and congested all the time. I think it’s normal

  • its funny how peoples bodies react differently to being pregnant.

  • Yes this happened to me too! Apparently the mucus membranes in your sinuses swell because of the extra blood flow during pregnancy.
Mine happened at the start of my pregnancy, and again in the last few weeks.
    Hope you’re feeling better soon!

  • Yes. Apparently it can be caused by the membranes in the nose being drier during pregnancy – another fun thing to deal with :D

  • I’m 19 weeks and I’ve been sneezing a lot but I think it’s more hayfever then anything else

  • Pregnancy can be such a trying time!

  • No I have not but I hope the remainder of your pregnancy is joyful & wish you all the best for the future.

  • No. I just had severe hayfever

  • This happened to me too and is quite common. I found steam to be helpful.

  • No, but I got a lot of bloody noses!

  • I haven’t, but a good friend of mine did. I hope you find some relief soon.

  • I was always snuffly, it is very common during pregnancy

  • Poor you. I have never heard of this kind of symptoms. Maybe you develop some kind of allergy? All the best with your new baby.

  • I haven’t heard of this symptom, but I would recommend taking some uncrystallised ginger (from the supermarket) to help with the congestion.

  • I couldnt handle walking through a supermarket deli or meat department at all when pregnant(the smell of meat just made me physically ill), The problem was i worked in a supermarket so i was super lucky to have some long service up my sleeve which i took at half pay for 20 weeks once i was 16 weeks into my pregnancy. Lucky i did as my bubs came 6 weeks early so it was meant to be…

  • A friend of mine had a few sinus infections with shocking headaches while pregnant. She found a Dr. who would give her a safe antibiotic after having one really bad ongoing infection for about 3 weeks. Safe painkiller did nothing.

  • This happened in my second pregnancy. I was constantly congested and my poor hubby had to put up with my snorting and snoring at night. I found using a vaporiser at night (with some inhalant) helped to ease the congestion.
