I didn’t even know Ikea made kitchens. Learn something new …

IKEA is certainly much more affordable, hope all goes well.

We’re going to put an Ikea kitchen in. Do a google about them as there are a lot of tips and pointers on the net about how to make them feel more custom made. I think they look amazing for the price!

A friend of mine is doing his kitchen from scratch – its IKEA, but he has made his kitchen fit the benches he wanted from them. He does say that the cabinets are very heavy, but he is hanging the cabinets from his walls – maybe it would have been better to let the floor take the weight. It certainly looks good and will be very functional – but most of us don’t have a complete empty room to work around what IKEA has.

Ikea kitchens are so beautiful. I think it’s a great idea to look at what they can offer.

It’s hard to do a reno on a tight budget.
We went through the kitchen department in IKEA an studied what works best.
We bought and replaced fittings that were reasonable price; repainted the cupboard surface and replaced some timber pieces, got a benchtop custom-made, and the end result was pretty satisfying.
The key is not to knock down everything if a simple cosmetic change will make a big difference.

Our next door neighbour did her whole house with Ikea furniture, kitchen and all. Looks amazing and she said the price was extremely low for good quality.

Oh No! mom71809 – you would think they would be unable to sell a product that did not meet the right Oz standards?

My boss bought some glass from ikea – in store it was on display as a splash back, when she tried to get in installed the glazier said he couldn’t do it as it didn’t meet Australian safety standards – something to think about. Bunnings and masters also do kitchens. I believe you get what you pay for – if you pay the money it might last longer

I haven’t, but some friends have and I have seen the wonderful results. These people have renovated a couple of houses, and they look stunning

Being ready made in flat pack you may not be able to get the exact measurements you have now. It may be worth taking along your measurements and see what they come up with. Atre you going to re-do your entire kitchen or only the cupboards. They don’t have much choice of brands of stoves, ovens, dishwashers etc. From memory the brand they have is an expensive one. Expensive is not always the best. Sometimes you pay for the name, not always better quality. I don’t know about the kitchens but some furniture for other rooms marks easily.
