Hello!

I have been noticing lately that I keep repeating things over and over again until I get it perfect may it be from washing clothes if I dont have to and to constantly repeating the same things over and over again I am scared that I have OCD.

  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a common anxiety disorder. It causes unreasonable thoughts, fears, or worries. A person with OCD tries to manage these thoughts through rituals.
    OCD can be very impairing.
I would suggest to go to your GP and get a referral for a psychologist experienced with OCD

  • I have OCD and I think the main take away I have from it is to get intervention early. I went to my GP early on and got help before it started really affecting my daily life. I’m glad that you were able to see your doctor and get some help also.

  • Definitely seek help from a professional. That must be scary. Help is available if you need it. Good luck

  • It could also be anxiety, especially if you haven’t had life long ocd traits. I’d suggest a chat with your gp to voice your worries.

  • OCD is nothing to be scared about however it is important that it doesn’t overtake your life. If you think it’s getting worse I would suggest seeing your GP.

  • the only way to be sure is to get a professional diagnosis from a pyschologist. I wouldn’t try self diagnosing with something like this.

  • My Little Buttons I am glad that you went to the GP and I hope you have something to help you with your anxiety. Life can be very stressful lately and you need to look after yourself.

  • Sounds like anxiety. I do similar things when I am feeling stressed and out of control. Talk to your GP for some advice and help

  • I’m glad you have some resolution but (at the risk of more repeating behaviour!) I would get another doctor’s opinion too. It does sound like OCD to me. If they’ve prescribed medication then it may be especially important to make sure you have the right diagnosis.

  • If you’re concerned I’d talk to a doctor who can complete an assessment or put you in touch with another specialist to help. They may be able to do therapy or prescribe medications to help.

  • Many thanks for all the comments I went to my Dr and she told me that its Anxiety and stress not OCD. Thank you everyone

  • I think it may be worth speaking to a psychologist about this for some help before it gets worse?

  • I wouldn’t worry about OCD, it’s very common in today world. Are you stressed or worried? I think that could trigger OCD. Definitely see a doctor and he could refer you to a specialist for advice and maybe put you onto meds if required. it can be treated

  • I have noticed increased repetitive behavior in myself over the past few years and have been questioning at what point do I become concerned about it. For example, when I am out and carrying a handbag I repetitively check if my purse is in there. I could check up to 20 times in a 10 minute period (but continue that the whole time I’m out). I also have to lock my car 3 or 4 times. And check my bank app to see the balance of my accounts at least 10 times a day even though I have not spent any money. I try to catch myself before I do any of these things, but think it’s just easier if I do it anyway as then I can ‘relax’.
It isn’t interfering with my quality of life and I’m not sure if anyone around me notices. It doesn’t particularly even bother me, but if it does become worse or starts to interfere then I will see someone (a psychologist?).
OCD can be debilitating, I hope if you’re at the stage of it affecting your life or causing you stress that you reach out to a specialist x

  • I am sorry, I don’t know what is right, sorry, the right advice. I have a close friend who suffers OCD, get’s the better of her sometimes. Maybe go see your GP for starters. Wish you well.

  • You just like things to be done your way…so do I. I don’t think its ocd…I hope its not.

  • Best to go see your doctor and they can advise you on what or where to go to know for sure.

  • OCD isn’t a bad thing. I have slight OCD and anxiety issues. You should ses your gp. I was put on zoloft 100mg which has been really good for me. Write down everything that you notice you’ve been doing that you think contributes to it and show your doctor and they can help you from there. Good luck!

  • You have realised a pattern is forming here so change that. Maybe replace your washing time with a walk around the block or up to the shops. Walk do not drive, destress and take your time look at the gardens and plants people have in their gardens. Make a list of things to do and do them once and move on to the next task. Have you thought of starting a community course or volunteering once a week to break up the day/week. Lots of council suburbs want helpers maybe repotting plants at a local community garden or a nursing home needs helpers or Salvation Army store or Vinnies need help, soup kitchens need helpers. Direct your OCD into a outside activity you like.

  • From my experience, I dont think OCD would be the diagnosis from your symptoms. Stress and anxiety for sure, not sure its OCD tho
