Hello!

This may sound silly but is there a mum out there that can help me or maybe their hubby. I’m a single mum and yesterday my shower/bath became blocked. I’ve been washing the dog in the bath over Winter and I have a strong suspicion its hair buildup. I’m hoping there’s a simple home remedy I can try before calling out an expensive plumber. Help!

  • A plunger does the drain very well or if it’s blocked and that doesn’t work l have used a powder to pour down the sink from the supermarket!

  • I love the hand plunger… unblocks and I get a little arm workout

  • Or try bi-carb soda for a natural remedy!!

  • Draino works best!

  • Use draino

  • take off the cover and use an old coat hanger to fish out as much as possible. then pour down some bicarb followed by vinegar. cover as the bicarb and vinegar will fizz and you want to use this to try to push out anything causing a clog in the drain.

  • Use draino, or I have actually tried use the plunger like a mad woman and that’s worked as well.

  • next time put a drain blocker

  • there are some good comments here

  • Use a long pieces of wire . Hope it can help.

  • Some good advice there below.

  • Pour a heap of bi carb soda down the drain. Get it right down in there. use a funnel if you have to. then get a big bottle of cheap white vinegar and pour it down. it will fizz up. after it has stopped fizzing so much run water down drain. if drain is still blocked repeat. this will get rid of any drain odours too.

  • Use drano! It works a treat.

  • My husband just cleared our shower drain and said that there was a snake of hair and clog that he removed! He just took off the cover and was able to fish it out.

  • these are some great ideas

  • read the labels on some of the products, because this is what I did. and I found that bicarb soda was in some. I buy bicarb soda from coles in a square packet, but you usually have to look for it in the cooking section, as it is used with plain flour sometimes. I make a slushie cup full of powder and water, then tip in down the drain and let is stand awhile., then if you run the tap it should foam up , and carry away anything blocking it. As far as I know you could do this once a week and keep your drains cleared….

  • Hope you managed to get it unblocked! I would have suggested Draino too

  • drain o can work wonders or something similar

  • bi-carb and vinegar works best on nearly everything

  • Thanks for the ideas about to go do this to the blocked bathroom drain!
