Hospital Bag Necessities - Mouths of Mums

Hello!

Was there anything you found was a must to have in your hospital go bag? Moisturiser, lip balm and a portable speaker were so handy last time. I’m going private and will probably stay a few days so would love to know what other Mum’s found handy to have.

  • Socks, comfy slippers, and extra nighties. Best wishes ChiWren.

  • Love the idea of bringing my own pillow! I’m not the same without my silk pillow case, this will definitely make it to the bag! Thanks so much for all the tips everyone. Feeling a bit more prepared now. It’s getting close and I feel like I need lists to keep sane hahah

  • An iPad would be good- live streaming, upload books, etc. Or you could visit the library and get some good reading material. Snacks are also good as hospital food isn’t always great and it is always nice to have something special from home. You can also never have too many nappy wipes.

  • Tissues, moisturiser, eye mask , ear plugs, , book/ magazine, glasses if needed to see/ read ,Container to put some of your bits and pieces in so can reach .and not fiddle around in bag to find. plus usual toiletries, socks, slip on slipper scuffs, a small pillow to hug.

  • I went private for my three boys- and for each stay I took my own pillow with one of my favourite pillowcases on it. It was a piece of my home that gave me comfort. You honestly dont need to take much with you, but for a little extra personal touch to my stay I took all of my own toiletries. Some cozy socks in the cooler months would be a must also.

  • Thank you for the suggestions! I envy any woman who would bring and be bothered using hair tools after birth, certainly won’t be me hahah. Socks, slippers and snacks are a great addition to the list! Hopefully I can find some wide slippers. For my first birth I brought along a cute pair that my swollen feet couldn’t even make it into haha

  • Other than the usual stuff like phone, etc, I would highly recommend some really warm socks, comfortable pjs and a warm jumper as I found hospitals can get really cold. I would also highly recommend taking snacks as the hospital food it not nice and if you are hungry in the middle of the night you will have something there that you can eat.

  • Well of course your phone, charger cords and plugs, head phones / ear buds / blue tooth, portable charger. I don’t know if you’re into reading but a nice book is also always on my list. Sometimes it can be quite cold in the hospital over night so I always like to bring some nice warm clothing socks and slippers. And then of course your toiletries, hair curler or hair straightener if your like, earrings, hair ties etc Also pads for yourself and plenty of stuff for the baby
