We’ve always had a no shoe policy inside. Must have shoes on outside, no black, dirty feet on the carpet.
I always have the sink full of hot, soapy water ready to wash and incidental stuff through the day is rinsed then washed as we go.
Anyone putting washing in the laundry has to check the pockets and turn and bunched up sleeves etc out.

We have a daily routine where toy’s get put away at the end of the day, they have to make their beds every morning and help set the table. As they get older I will introduce more things for them to be involved in and learn to take care of as it is really important they learn early on.

kids need to help set the dinner table and bring ready food out to dining table and when finished with their meal they need to take their plates back into the kitchen and when everyone is finished, help with wrapping up if there are left overs, this saved me many many steps to and from.

I’ve always been a no shoes in the house person. It heavily reduces the amount of dirt and muck that gets tracked through the house. And getting kids to wash their hands after coming inside from play or being out and about. The less grubby surfaces, the easier day to day house maintenance is for me
