Not all little ones are easily distracted when they put thier minds to something. A friend of ours had a child you could distract from the same thing up to a dozen times. That doesn’t work with some kids. She visited once and I had my stereo on playing a cassette. She pushed a couple of buttons at the same time and jammed the tape in it—-seemed like metres of little bits came out of it when the electrician pulled it apart. We tied it up with a octopus strap after that.

That was my only suggestion, a baby barrier set up around it. That’s all I can think of, unless you put doors and locks on your unit

I am so impressed at the answers so far. It is amazing what little fingers can get into. I had things out of reach. It is the safest. One of my grandchildren could find his way into anything then say “ta daa”!

I just redirected my son away when he would get into something he wasn’t meant to. Gave him something else to play with.

you could always try stick on velcro tape around the edge and fly screen cut to measure that way it can be opened when needed and the remote will still work through it

The other mums have covered it, all of our cables etc.. were hidden out of view and reach.

Use whatever you can to cover it. The wandering hands will eventually wane…

We’ve used double sided tape to secure the DVD player and other units down so that our Naughties can’t get them out, we’ve also taped over the buttons so that they can’t see the lights — if they can’t see them then they tend to forget about them! Well, ours do at least…..

We got a tall one and put everything out of reach up high. But a baby gate would work too, it might not look stylish but with kids nothing is stylish that is practical.

I have a barrier that is meant for large doorways, we just tied it on using strapping for a trailer. It’s not pretty, but it’s not forever.
