  • Hope it went well. I would suggest once you get it down, give yourself a little treat in some form.

  • Have you got any uni friends that can help you and /or pop over to the library . My daughter finished her first year last year and four more to go. Best of luck , don’t stress out too much as you are doing something you enjoy ad it will be over before you know it .

  • My daughter struggled with focus too. What worked for her was a study group. She got together with at least one other student from the class and work on things together

  • I find having study buddies for assignments and for study in general are great. Especially when you’re lacking motivation, it’s a big help having someone by your side to keep you on track

  • Hope you got good marks for your assignment.

  • Setting up a good study environment helps; quiet area; calm music; tea; biscuits; chocolates; other snacks; no disruptions; timer and plenty of rewards. Work in one hour blocks and then have a reward; a biscuit; chocolate; movement break; cup of tea; etc. It helps with motivation and working towards a goal.

  • I’m finding yoga practice helps me to get focused, centred and find motivation to get the job done. If it’s not yoga, find something that brings you joy and take a short break to re-centre your mind and spirit. Then get to it and get working on your assignment!
It could even be as simple as playing some music you love and having a sing-a-long and dance. Something that gets you in a good place. Something that gets you moving works best.

  • I find if I’m struggling to get an assignment done, I jsut sit down and start writing, without worrying at all if it is correct or decent quality or focussed. Usually after a session like this, I find I have a lot to work with, and even if half of it is cut, usually a fair bit of it ends up being able to be easily transformed into a good assignment. Good luck!

  • I hope that it is done and dusted by now, study is hard to do but worth it in the end

  • i’m sure you got it finished in time – I find that when I need to focus and get something done, I have a hot shower and try to clear my head. Then when i am out I basically go to the task that is urgent and NEEDS to be done and I sit and do it until it is done. (I also find that music helps tune out any little distractions) – Good luck with your results :)

  • you have probably done it already, but try make it fun. write a silly verse or letter about it,and snap thought prossess begun-

  • Get the family to help with all he housework , hen you can study easier

  • Ok I mow it may seem hard to get school work in with working and children so this is how I did it and told my friends.
Once the children are in bed (mine is 8 pm)
And you say good night ect. turn the kettle on make a warm drink and some healthy snacks. Now sit all this next to your computer and you now have 2 hours a night to do home work from eg 8.30pm to 10.30pm.
Don’t look at your assignments as a big pile focus on 1 area a week. I know it seems like “not much time allowed” but you will be surprised how much gets done. As you have given your self assignment/focus time.
This is how I smashed out my diploma of children’s services course and was finished 1st. And it was of high standards (distinctions). Good luck. Where can cut and paste for later read and reword also helps too. The only night I didn’t study was Saturday was that was my school/course day.

  • I think you just need to put time aside and get on with it or your never going to meet the dead lines and end up redoing it

  • Practice mindfullness, that can help to get motivated good luck

  • I listen to things on YouTube. Look for Study ISO tones or Study beats. I also have them playing in my ears at night….. for someone who has severe ADHD, ODD & OCD…. I can study now after all & these help.

Play some classical music as well…. nothing with words as they distract you…. and just get into it.

    50mins at a time study & a 10 min break…. perfect.

  • Thanks ladies, I have did an all nighter, 24 hours straight getting it done, despite a few toilet, tea breaks. Told kids to go & ask Dad etc. I have had no sleep as the submission had a deadline. Aargh, i frustrate myself for getting into that situation. At least i will sleep well tonight. Next year i will have to make myself work on it daily like your suggestions and reward myself.

  • Peaceful time, I know its hard to when you have kids but maybe you mum or mother-in-law can look after the kids to get some quite time to study

  • Do something that you find gets you motivated whether it’s a walk or run, set your self a reward for after your finished , like somewhere you have wanted to go or something you”ve wanted to, think about how far you have come and just one more to go, have no distractions

  • Turn off your devices and get rid of the kids nominate a time and do it good luck
