Hello!

My 11 year old daughter left her bobby pins on the bathroom counter. Any ideas on how I can remove rust stains would be appreciated. I knew not to try any bleach as I heard that sets it so I haven’t tried anything yet.

  • For small objects affected by rust (like keys), soak in a bowl of white vinegar for up to 24 hours and then rinse clean and dry. For larger objects, apply vinegar directly to the rust-affected area and sprinkle with salt. Use a wad of aluminum foil to scrub the rust away.

  • Baking soda with vinegar or lemon juice is always my first try. Jif is a good try as well, so is CRL and a renovator for the car can work as well

  • Good question,l need to know as well!

  • I didn’t know that about bleach – CLR should work, Ajax is also great

  • Great! Really interesting comments read on this!

  • I used baking soda, it’s fantastic & works for a lot if things!

  • a bit of creme cleanser worked for me

  • How did you go? CLR usually works for me!

  • get denture tablets and let them fizz on the stain.

  • CLR is very good at removing rust stains. Otherwise it’s the trust bicarb paste again!

  • there are some good comments here

  • nail polish remover . .

  • Do we ask how you went?

  • I’d try a paste of lemon juice & bicarb soda. Let it sit for a while then polish gently.

  • CLR is the best leave on for 2-3 minutes. Then wash off thoroughly. If there is a stain still repeat. Go gently do not scrub with steel wool use a makeup pad and run gently.

  • marble paste with a bathroom enjoy glove if you own them otherwise gumption and elbow grease

  • CLR or rust remover from Bunnings or lemon juice and bicarb but may need a few applications.

  • Bicarbonate paste is really good

  • Make a paste of bicarb and lemon juice let it sit on the stain for a hour

  • Gumption… can be found in the cleaning products aisle of most supermarkets.
