Hello!

How on earth do I stop my 18 month old from playing with the contents of his nappy? I can’t change him quick enough and I also can’t watch him like a hawk all day long to get to it before he does! Please help.

  • Oh dear, you would think the smell would put him off. Probably try hard to catch him and then make it clear that it is wrong . ( using discipline techniques ) .eg looking him in the eye with a stern voice etc

  • Argh this is always a tough one. The snappy crotch singlets?

  • Lol. My daughter dives for her nappy contents as soon as it’s open. Just keep pushing hands away, saying yuck, being angry. They’ll get the message

  • hopefully this is something he will grow out of sooner rather than later

  • Put some tape on the front for extra hold and when changing him, get rid of it as quickly as possible.

  • body suits so he can’t get to it

  • what did you end up doing?

  • Hope you have managed to distract him and prevent him from doing so.

  • What did you end up doing?

  • I hope that he has stopped now

  • If he has something else in his hand to amuse him could help.

  • To stop him taking it off by himself, put some tape around the nappy waist a couple of times.

  • Very tricky indeed. Makes me remember the time I heard my daughter wake, she would have been about 1, she was singing happily so I decided to leave her be for a bit, hung out a load of washing then poked my head around the door & there she was smearing shit all over her cot, it was from ear to,ear & in her mouth, well she was chewing something. I was only 19, aargh what to do. I stripped her &me & in the shower we went. I can’t recall her doing it again, this is a hard one, I honestly can’t think of anything to help hun.

  • I also use pull ups instead of nappies so its not a matter of just undoing the tabs

  • No answer but good tips to follow from other mums

  • That’s not good. Give him a interesting toy. Needs to b distracted

  • oh dear, put him in a onesies

  • Can you toilet train him? That would be my solution!

  • Even try tucking his singlet into his pants
