Hello!

My four year old is going through a phase where she won’t let me brush her teeth, does anyone have any advice on how to get her brushing again? How can you get a 4 year old to brush their teeth?

  • Worse comes to worst, by ex brother in law offers money. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t

  • try to encourage and reward her

  • I got tthe kids electric tooth brush for my 3 year old and make her decorate it with stickers.. she loves it and cant stop brushing now

  • make it a novelty, get him to pick out his own tooth brush from an online sit with heaps to choose from. Good luck!

  • Have you tried putting up a brushing chart? With sticker rewards.

  • I hope you got your little one brushing again

  • Brush your teeth together … you do yours and let her do hers … you may think she is not doing a good enough job but after she has had a turn then you can finish off

  • i would do it for her for a while

  • What did you end up doing for her to brush her teeth?

  • Bribe bribe bribe! Lol I had the same problem when my daughter was 4… I bribed with money! Cost me 5 cents every night to get her to brush her teeth lol

  • A rewards chart, with a prize after a week of brushing her teeth etc..also make sure her toothbrush isnt too hard..soft ones might be nicer for her

  • Brush it earlier. If my daughter gets too tired she won’t brush her teeth

  • Tell her if she doesn’t brush her teeth they will go yucky and fall out, worked for my son ;-)

  • Tell her if she brushes her teeth she will get a reward of her choice

  • Make it a game with a song and the brushing has to go until the song ends.

  • Oh and make sure the rewards aren’t food based or you can set up a bad habit there

  • I wouldn’t suggest the scare route but a reward rout – maybe a reward chart with a big reward at the end of a specific time and lil rewards along the way??

  • Try a rewards chart that they are responsible for a make a big deal about it and let then choose a reward within reason. Short term goals – end of a week etc

  • If i tell them their teeth will fall out like poppys ,That usally works

  • We make it fun. I’ve made up a little song that I sing while I brush my kids teeth. We also have made it a part of their shower routine. They brush their teeth first, then I give them a once over to get the areas they may have missed, then when I’m satisfied that their teeth are ‘sparkling’ (que pretending to be blinded by their shining pearly whites) they get some nice smelling soap to wash their bodies with.. then they’re squeaky clean from top to toe!
