Hello!

We live with our dogs but their hair is driving me crazy, any ideas apart from vacuuming everyday ?

  • A sticky roller from a $2 shop or a pair of rubber washing up gloves and a water spray bottle, spritz a little and rub it off with the gloves, it should just roll up and you can pick it off. I have to do this on the back of my chair from my cat…lol

  • Dogs that have a furry type coat normal don’t moult. They normally need their coats clipped.
Dogs with hair need to have it brushed or combed daily and you will get a lot less hair drop onto your furniture, clothes especially the dog comes into physical contact with them, floors etc. Sometimes it is better to comb your dog with a comb designed for pets.

  • Sticky rollers or the rubber brooms.

  • Cheers great replays ,rubber glove is interesting.

  • I know how you feel. I have a small short-haired dog but the hair everywhere is unbelievable. We have floor boards so we use a big orange floor mop to sweep it up. I’m not sure what they are called but they swivel, pick up dust and fluff and then you just shake them off outside.

  • Great ideas. I use a clothes brush but think I could do it 24 hours a day and I still would have dog hair in the house.

  • For spot cleaning, use masking tape to pick up hair quickly.

  • i hope that you are trying some of these ideas and that they work for you :)

  • So many interesting ideas. The one of the squeegee looks superb!!

  • we use a damp chux – or you can use sticky tape, or those clothes brushes work too

  • I find sticky rollers are great but the don’t seem to last. I get a roll of duct tape or similar, roll the tape, wrap it around the roll so the sticky bit is on the outside and use that. Once it’s covered cut it off and do it again.

  • Tumble drier gets rid of all hairs but hard to fit a couch in one….i find wet stuff, baby wipes etc are good to pick up hair, or lock dog outside. mum of two kids, one dog and three cats…i can sympaphise

  • We have one of those sticky rollers too. they are great

  • There is a roller thing my cousin uses on her dogs directly which lessens the fur they malt through the house I think it is called a Schticky. She washes it and can reuse it. It works on all surfaces and is great for clothes. She swears by it saying ever since she uses it on her dogs she vacuums way less (she has two Samoyed dogs, so yeah they shed heaps)

  • ok i just saw an awesome video on youtube last night! The guy put on rubber gloves and was wiping his huskies hair off his material couch. He said what works even better is to get a squeegee thing (with the flat end not the sponge side) and use that to scrape off hair. He got heaps of it and i swear that this was the best tip that i have seen to get rid of dog hair. I recommend getting outside and brushing your dog once- even twice- a day to get rid of the excess hair and if you do it on the grass, there’s no sweeping. My hubby joked that he was going to get a leaf blower and blow all the hair out the door lol…..but this idea will work for your patio areas! I hope these ideas will help you
