I’m surprised they don’t, but at the same time they’re not supposed to make medical diagnoses.

There should definitely be an ear thermometer as part of a basic first aid kit.

Attend the next school council meeting.. You can without been a council member to bring it to their attention.. It might be a way to get one in thats checks the skin temp (without comtamination issues).. But im surprised they rang you so quickly you wouldnt of made it to the end of the street….. I know our school before and after school care while they can use the school for care thats about it.. Their contact is direct to you for any issues and not through the school..

Perhaps its a hygenine issue. Having one thermometer for all the students in the school could be a hazard if its not cleaned properly. Generally if a child has a fever you can tell without a thermometer, you just don’t have a reading.

Possibly raise the issue with the board and request a thermometer for the sick bay.

It would seem sensible to have one in the sick bay to check their temperature!

To me it looks quite important to have a thermometer at school or in sick bay. So, did you have to go and pick him up then?

Interesting question. Perhaps they should have a thermometer, although I would have thought that if fever was suspected there would be other symptoms and he’d feel hot to the touch etc. and you would have probably noticed something earlier, so a thermometer would be backup information along with other more obvious signs. But if they are calling you take him home that early I think there should be a good reason, and being able to tell you his temperature would be a sensible thing.
