Hello!

“My son is 21 months old and has a very healthy sleep routine, except he wakes up every morning at about 5:30 and wont go back to sleep unless he’s in bed with me then he will sleep until 8:30, we still share a room also, any suggestions welcome!”

  • Cut out or reduce day naps. Put him to bed later.


  • Hope it all sorted, kids go through -phases at the time we think it will last forever but it usually doesnt


  • Look at your bedtime routine. I would feed and bath my kids by 6pm. In bed by 7pm. New nappy. a bottle of milk and a small portion of rice cereal would keep them happy all night long.


  • I think it is one of those ones that you need to do whatever works for you really.

  • just let him sleep with you, it you get a sleep in that’s awesome, 5.30-6.30am is the time I usually wake up


  • I’m not sure that there is anything you can do other than making sure that the room in very dark and conducive to good sleep.

  • I don’t think there is an answer to this question. My kids very, some days I can not wake them, others they are up before me.


  • Is he grumpy during the day if he doesn’t get that extra sleep with you? If he isn’t then maybe he is simply not tired and had enough sleep.

  • I would pay a million to have my bub sleep thru the night. Why don’t you just stay in bed with him till 8.30am then?


  • He might be getting cold, try another blanket on him when you jump into bed might just help him sleep longer. if not then if it is not bothing you continue what you are doing and enjoy the snuggles

  • My son sleeps until 9am and usually goes to bed at 8.30pm. He sleeps 2 -3 hours in the afternoon hence the late bedtime. He is nearly 3. He is very active and a walk in the sun tends to tire him out too.


  • As soon as my daughter saw sunlight she would wake. You could try making the bedroom very dark.
