mine were both weaned at the age of 1yr. I would just stop bubs is old enough that they don’t need breast milk anymore. Distract them with other things – baby bottle of water or cows milk, snacks, etc.

oh gosh I’m in an identical situation! Mr 20 months is obsessed with boob. its his comfort as well as his milk. all day all night. the last week i have been really strict cutting out all random feeding during the day. only gets it before sleep now. lots of crying. then next week ill cut back night times. He totally understand though and a few times a day tells me he’s ‘mummy, tired, bed’ just so he can have boob lol lol

We had some fabulous support from ABA. There are some good suggestions on here too. Good luck, boobie monsters are a bit tricky for a while but end up coming good!!

My 1st was a big boobie monster! We did cold turkey, hubby would cuddle him etc i avoided him for the day or two and i just expressed a little bit here and there for comfort! Good luck!

My sister in law took my 2 and a half year old for 2 nights to help me ween her when she came back i told her there was no milk left it worked a treat 🙂 .If you have family thats willing maybe give that a try .

Definitely give the ABA a call but I’d suggest doing it gradually, 1 feed at a time if he has a bit of a breastfeeding routine. Before bedtime feed is usually last one to go so maybe when you’re ready for that, you can talk with him about how he is becoming such a big boy and can drink milk from a cup now. As for the random breastfeeding demands, I guess I’d treat it like a child asking for a snack or something when it’s not snack/lunch time etc. Acknowledge that he wants it but explain that it is not time for milk right now. Perhaps offer some water as an alternative and do something together to take his mind off it. Even better if you’re partner can help out with the distraction.

Maybe he craves the sucking action as much as breast milk. Do you have a drink container that only releases fluid if he sucks it that you use in the car?
Like others suggested just say no and be strong enough not to give in to him.
In hot climates he may need more fluids. Offer him water. He may be hoping you will take him into your bed to sleep with you too. That is another thing that could be another issue later. Been there, done that !! I was advised at the age of about 3 they develop a strong imagination and have night terrors.
Is it possible his routine has changed at all and his “body clock” is out of whack. I know a baby girl who woke up at approx. the same time every night. In desperation they took her to the Dr. who ran tests. They gave her special “natural” drops for a few nights. As soon as she showed signs of sleeping all night they weaned her off them. They had been told to use them for a week longer than they did.

he goes down for day/night sleep with a full bottle of cows milk, he wakes 3 hrly and wants me to resettle him, he sometimes sucks for 5 min until I say enough! during the day its fairly frequent, he gets quiet violent about it. mum suggested putting stop nail bite on my nipples. I don’t know!!! I don’t mind the occasional feed but he is getting worst. will try offer more water.

Is he just coming and having a drink here or there to comfort himself when needed or for a full drink… With my kids i just had to say No and offer a replacement drinkwhen it started been for comfort not a full drink.. I was told a kid will always take what is offered in the end, the hard thing is to be strong and not give in. But by all means if calling ABA for advise will help do it… You have breast feed for a long period of time so they should be supportive of you..

Take him shopping for a big boy sippy cup or similar. Mine went straight from the boob to a cup with a straw. We made all kind of drinks milk shakes and smoothies they never even asked again.

Warm milk in a sippy cup perhaps? I am so glad I weaned mine before they were old enough to start asking for it

Try doing it gradually. Replace his afternoon feed with a glass of milk, then once he’s mastered that replace his evening feed and so on.
