Hello!

“How do you keep a 16 month old in his bed? He has been in a bed for about a month and sometimes wakes up every couple of hours and some of the time he just wont go back to sleep, any help would be appreciated”

  • Great advice! It was interesting reading the comments on this!

  • Don’t give up….lots of patience required!

  • I hope he starts to sleep in it soon:(

  • I am having the same problem, my girl falls asleep in her bed all good but gets up when she wakes up in the middle of the night. She then comes in to our bedroom and I am too tired to take her back to her bed so I just let her sleep with us. I am not sure how to solve this problem – did you have any luck at all?

  • Did anything help?

  • Maybe sleep with him in his bed and when he’s asleep then go to yours

  • Did you find a good way to keep him in his bed?

  • Hope you have found a way to help him settle and sleep better.

  • A child safety gate in the doorway is a great idea, except I would be the one having to get up to put them back in their bed.

  • I put a child gate up at my bedroom so my kiss two can’t hop into bed with me. She gets to the gate and I put her back to bed. Well my hubby does I pretend I’m asleep.

  • My kids are 2 and 4 and they’ll still usually end up in my bed by morning.

  • I hope things have improved for you. I’m not sure much can be done besides persisting and putting him back to bed every time he gets up.

  • Ya just can’t sometimes .. :(

  • your game to be putting him into a bed so young. good on you. How’s it going?

  • How is it going with your 16 month old? Have you found a way to keep him in his bed?

  • I didn’t put my daughter into a big bed until 2 years old but she always had something to snuggle with until mummy or daddy came in to say its up time. She would play until that happened in her bed.

  • I told my daughter she wasn’t allowed out until the sun came up, this seemed to work or you could get a sleep clock. She was in a toddler bed from 16 months and has always been a good sleeper. She has always loved her big girl bed(single) and never gets up too early. It is a malm from ikea which is lower to ground. And no toys in her room except Ellie her fav

  • Maybe have a little rewards chart if he stays in his bed he gets a special sticker.
We used to wait till our kids were asleep then put them in their beds.

  • A roll bar might help, but just laying down a rule that he can’t get up unless the sun is up worked for us.

  • Oh and make sure he has plenty of blankets so you can rule out waking cold
