Hello!

I’ve been working for an organisation for approximately 2 years and I don’t feel any connection to it. I have worked in many organisations throughout my career and haven’t ever felt so disconnected to my employer. I keep thinking it may just be a phase for me?

  • If you don’t feel a connection you have probably lost interest in the role

  • Trust yourself. If you feel like it’s time to leave do it. Follow your passion and make new opportunities. If you don’t feel confident or circumstances don’t give the usury of leaving straight away, find a new position to go to prior to giving notice but commit to the process. Once you make up your mind it is amazing what opportunities arise.

  • Have a discussion with your manager and see if there are any opportunities for progression where you currently are. If you’re still not feeling happy/connected, then I’d probably start looking elsewhere.

  • Explore other options. Write a pros and cons list. What will make you feel happy?

  • I think personally it’s time to leave if you’re questioning it. Life is too short. Start looking and move forward ????

  • probably good to have a back up scenario in the works

  • Perhaps you’ve grown out of the role that suited you at that point in your life, now you’ve grown your ready to move on to something new, worst thing you can do is doing nothing, it’s scary and exciting times.

  • I am feeling this way right now too! I’s so hard to start a new job with kids!

  • I’m feeling ya. I’m in similar position except its my relationship of nearly 35 years, the connection is lost, we’ve grown apart but I just don’t know how to call time on it. Good luck. Best advice I have is to look for another job and don’t quit your current one til you have found a new one.

  • If you feel negative and disconnected it’s time to go!

  • If your gut is telling you that you are not happy then you’re not happy. There is no shame in finding another role. Don’t write it off as a phase, you deserve to be happy in your career.

  • I know your feeling. I have had that a few times so I left.
If you don’t enjoying going to work because you don’t get along with the people you work with ask your Boss if you can work remotely. I did this in my last job. It was fabulous because no commuting.
If it is the work you are not enjoying, maybe you need a holiday or time off to find a new job.
Life is too short to not enjoy what you are doing.

  • If you’re not feeling it then probably look for something else.
Could also be other factors like not enough challenging work so maybe you could speak to your boss about a role change or adding something to your day to day work that you’re interested in.

  • If you’re not feeling it, find another job/company. Life is too short to waste time on something you’re not happy with.

  • I undertake professional learning and training to remain engaged and connected.

  • Just apply for other jobs. And see if you find something else.

  • Until you have a new job, at least.

  • Sometimes it is about what’s going on for you outside of work – there’s no doubt of that. But if you’re really not happy, start looking for another job. You’ve given it a good try.

  • It may be a sign it’s not the right place for you. I would probably look out for something else where you feel more at your place

  • I went through this for 10 years and kept changing roles and companies. I’ve finally found somewhere to settle. Maybe you just need to keep looking?
