Still don’t think he is strong enough to lead this country out of it’s wilderness.
We will be paying interest on interest payments for many years and we won’t get our debt forgiven like some other countries have done.
Perhaps Keating’s words of being a banana republic will still come true.
There is very little left to sell to drag us out of our present economic difficulties – especially as we have to charge so much for our goods due to the wages regime here compared to elsewhere.

I agree with you MOM93821, The instability of the past few years hasn’t helped this country one little bit.

Too early to tell how he is going and how the party will now run with him in the leadership role. Stability and progress is what I desire the most for our country and not inner party rumblings and turmoil.

I think he is doing an excellent job. He has not been in long enough to do much. As for those saying John Howard brought In the GST he made that very clear that he was going to do it when he was elected and was vote. He was ELECTED fair and square. no tricks at all. I think he was a great pm.

Honestly. I think all politicians are out for themselves. They make empty promises, say what they think we want to hear, to get us to vote for them….then they just screw us over. We have not had a single politician ever that has had Australians at the top of their minds. If there was one in existence, all the lurks and perks for pollies would be cut, their pay packets, super funds and pensions would all be cut. But instead, they keep all their benefits and decrease ours

I don’t think he’s actually done anything at all yet. There haven’t been any major policies passed in parliament, or new policies announced. The only thing that’s floating around is an increase in the GST. His government is denying an increase, but I don’t trust any politicians. Didn’t John Howard say “never, ever” to the GST?
