Hello!

I love the idea of them but honestly, it would cost us SO much money to buy them for our family. Are there discount or cheap places I should know about?

  • Shop the Sales: Right after Christmas, stores like Kmart, Target, and Big W often have discounts on holiday PJs. You can grab them then and stash them away for next year.

Mix and Match: Instead of going for a full set from one store, try matching just the colors or patterns. For example, get red plaid pants for everyone, and you can find plain tops to match for much less.

  • We did the Bluey ones from kmart, but I only bought a few at a time – every pay day I’d buy one or two, and did that until we got our set!

  • Kmart do family sets and they are pretty well priced but you do have to get in quick as they sell out. Or, sometimes people sell sets on Market place etc and they’ve generally only been used once so they’re in good condition.

  • I didn’t even know that was a thing! I kind of understand matching Xmas Pjs (Big W has some adorable Bluey ones) but I’m also about making the most of clothes. When we purchase clothes, we ask ourselves if we are going to wear it 30 times or more. If not, we reconsider the purchase.

  • We never did matching pj’s. Personally I don’t think pj’s are so important, as long as that what you wear in bed is practical and comfy…

  • We got some cute Christmas ones at Aldi :)

  • We don’t afford them. Could you buy plain pants and white t’shirts and paint or print a design on?

  • I think that matching pyjamas on children looks adorable, but mine wouldn’t cooperate by wearing them! I generally go to Best and Less for pyjamas, especially if they are having a sale.

  • I didn’t know this was a thing. We just wear t-shirts and stretchy shorts to bed.

  • I have never heard of the whole family wearing matching pyjamas only in movies. I prefer individuality.

  • I’ve never bought them for our family as I’d have to get 7 and that would cost a lot. But you could checkout sales after christmas, cheaper places that sell them or get cheap Pj’s and decorate them.

  • Best and Less. Brilliant place for pj’s, robes, slippers and general clothing

  • Boxing Day sales for the following year!

  • Purchase while they are on sale always helps me for my family of four. We have gotten 3 years out of our ones so definitely got my money’s worth

  • They are expensive! And you have to remember to get the next sizes for the kids or they will outgrow the next year! We got ours from Cotton on when they have a sale on, otherwise I wouldn’t bother as yes, they’re crazy expensive

  • A good suggestion by the mum below to buy basics and decorate your own matching sets. Not my question but I do like the answer! :)

  • You can get them from Target, Big W and Best and less but still not cheap. You can do your own though just get plain red t-shirts and whatever colour shorts you want to go with them and then decorate yourselves, you could see, iron on or use fabric paint and make it a fun family activity.

  • I love the idea too, but can’t talk my husband into it. Also, as you say, they’re expensive. Maybe try Best and Less? I think I’ve seen some there.

  • Best and less now have a family set.
I don’t really shop at Peter Alexander as I don’t find the quality of their PJs that great.
I washed a pair of their shorts in the washing machine and the elastic went!

  • I totally agree! And the idea that it was only worn couple of times with kids outgrowing theirs by the following year.
