  • We did 3 days and 2 days early intervention with my youngest

  • My son attended kindy 2 mornings and 2 afternoons a week. There were less kids when my daughter started, so she did every morning Mon-Thurs
Before kindy, they did 1 day a week at child care

  • My kids 2 mornings and 2 afternoons a week. Monday and Wednesday 9am-12pm, Tuesday and Thursday 1pm-3pm. Friday’s they stayed home

  • Mine both did 4 half days a week for kindy. I thought this was brilliant as it got them into a daily routine, nearly 5 days a week just like school, but didn’t wear them out too much. My local school then changed it to 2 full days a week. Wasn’t very successful and wax soon changed back to 4 half days

  • my 3 yr old goes twice a week, then next year it will be 3 days one week, 2 the other

  • Kindy is 2 full days & every 2nd friday

  • mine never went to daycare :)

  • Two and a half days at preschool, one at child care.

  • I think 3 days is enough, they have 13years ahead of them going 5 days a week.

  • Both my eldest just went to pre kinder for one afternoon a week at 3.5, then Kindergarten. Here in Tassie it’s 10-15 hours – usually 2 full days or 3 shorter days. My first son did the shorter days and my daughter did the full days both totalling 12 hours per week and both coped well at 4.5 years. My youngest son will start in 2016 and hopefully do two full days

  • My first child did 2 full days a week and travelled to and from on the bus! He loved it. My second child went 3 full days as they changed it the year he stared. He also travels on the bus. We are lucky that the bus picks them up at the end of the driveway and takes them straight to the school gate.

  • We don’t have a preschool near us, but the local daycare runs a “school readiness program” for the kids going into kindy (NSW) the following year. I started both my 2 kids at age 2 for one day per week. When they turned 3 they went 2 days per week and when they were 4, 3days per week. I had intended to up their days to 4 per week at the end of the last year before school to prepare them for the 5 day week the following year, but I felt like I was missing out on too much time with them, so left it at the 3 days.

  • My boys were in day care one day a week from about the age of 1, then kinder three half days before primary school. Both transitioned well.

  • I was/am a stay at home Mum so my kids have never been in childcare but they went to preschool 3 days a week 8.45 to 2.

  • 2 full days a week each with the option of another half day which we didn’t take on.

  • For me it was 2 days a week

  • My twins do two days at kinder 8.30-4 and two days at childcare 8.30-5/5.30 they start school next year. They have always been in for atleast three days while I worked.

  • 2 full days at kindy

  • I ended up having to put my son in day care while I went to work and that was 3 days, school hours. At first I was really worried but he settled in well and although yes it was fantastic to give him a head start for school he also picked up a lot of bad habits that had to be pulled back once he got to kindy. So it has pro’s and con’s and either decision that you make will be the best for you and your child :)

  • 4yo kindy was two mornings, and one full day. 3yo was two afternoons a week. ( From a mum of teens, those were great days!)
