Hello!

I recently was shocked when I was presented with the bill for a new colour and cut at a hairdresser I thought I would try down the road! I did ask how much it would be when I went in but they did not tell me that you pay extra for the hair cut despite me asking how much is it for a cut and colour! Maybe that is normal and I am out of touch, but I wondered what is a normal price you would pay for a cut and colour?

  • The last time I went to the hair dresser for a cut and colour (including some foils) it set me back $120. I haven’t been back in over 2 year and colour my hair at home now and get my sister to trim it for me. I really need a good cut and colour but that will have to wait

  • I cut and colour my own hair lol. So I spend the cost for a packet of hair colouring. And since my hair is very fine and not too long, I split the packet in two !

  • I like Rachel’s response. I agree, shop around and ask for prices.

  • Shop around!! Justcuts costs me $20 for a cut & style(layers etc…) that’s cheap. If I was to go to one of my local hairdressers a cut costs $45!! No matter how much comes off.

Colour can vary a lot too. I DIY LOL so the cost of a packet sometimes two depending on the length of my hair so $15-$30. At a salon it would be $80-90 for colour and if i wanted foils a combined price starting at $140(depending o length of hair and any toners used!)

  • I use to pay around $70for a full head of foils but now am paying somewhere else 120 for a full head and blow wave. It can get so pricey.

  • I’ve never coloured my hair but my cut costs about $40. My hair is upto my hips so it’s good price.

  • I’m a hairdresser and I know price can vary quite a bit from salon to salon so shop around … Don’t think your getting a better service by paying a lot .. We have all be trained the same way …

  • I think about 15-20 dollars for my hair cut!

  • I’d say it would be well over $100

  • Around $100 for colour and $25 for cut, plus whatever products they try talk you into :) Too expensive to do regularly, that’s for sure!

  • Our hairdresser does do concessions for students and other concession card holders and there are discount days too. This often helps with costs for people.

  • I do not colour my hair and a cut is about $45. The session is long and it includes a lovely and long blow dry and a cup of coffee!

  • Atleast 30 for a cut and 95 for colour :)

  • My last one was $115 – cut, colour, blowdry. If I just want a colour (roots) it’s $45 I think.

  • I am a student so pay around $30 – $35 for a cut (Cannot afford a colour). I did get a trainee cut with one of my friends at a fancy salon in the city – Cut, colour, style – $350…crazy

  • I agree, hairdressing costs are extremely high. I paid $80 just for a cut and nearly fell over! Now, I do my own colours and am lucky enough to have a friend who’s a hairdresser who cuts my hair at a much reduced rate. Be thankful for friends I say

  • well as a previous hairdresser -we went by $75 for colour $30 for cut
price varies for bleaching procedures and difficult colour jobs
package deals are always around the 90-100 mark. cut, colour, streaks.

foils are expensive and you go by quarter, half, full head for pricing
i know that most people will give you a “quote” that you take for the promised price but when you get in the salon, their prices change. I have spent years of getting “free” hair cuts and colour as it is apart of the job to be presented well. I went for a service and i was greatly misquoted. It was also a bad haircut that i had to go and fix myself! Sometimes i want a treat for my hair and to get a pampering
