How much does it cost for a gardener? Has anyone paid for a gardener?

  • Sorry you didn’t get many answers when you posted this!
Hopefully you check back here and there or that you’ve already found a reasonably affordable one.
If you’re still looking there is a big company called Jim’s who do all sorts of things from just mowing to gardening and they are quite well priced.
They also have an app called Airtasker where you can hire individuals for random jobs.

  • There are so many variables. It’s probably best to ring for a quote.

  • Currently gardeners in Queensland charge an average price of about $50.92/hr. In the Australian Capital Territory, gardening jobs usually cost around $49.06/hr, and the average price of gardening services in Western Australia is at approximately $48.52/hr.

  • It depends on what you ask them to do, and how regularly they come. Most frame their charges in terms of the work, not as an hourly rate.

  • It really depends on a number of factors: area, size of lawn, what you want done etc. Call a few people and have them give you (free) quotes.

  • Good idea to check with neighbours. :)

  • It might be worthwhile checking if your relative’s neighbours use/want a gardener as they might do a discount for maintaining a few houses near each other.

  • Good idea about the pensioner discounts tip – thanks!

  • ring around as some small business offer pensioner discounts

  • Thanks for the answer mom81879 – looking into this for an elderly relative.

  • Yep, I have. Our local ones charge $40 an hour. They’re really good but not something you would use all the time
