My baby was only a few weeks old when he swapped to formula. He had a tongue tie and just couldn’t latch on properly so it was best for him to have formula.

With my eldest it was 14 months; twelve months with my second; and with my third, they urgently needed to put me on medication that would go through my breast milk, so I had to switch at just 6 months.

I bottle fed all my children and they are all perfectly healthy. Of course breast milk is best but if you can’t for what ever reason don’t feel guilty. Bottle fed does the trick also.

I had so many issues breastfeeding that I had to formula feed my baby when she was just 3 weeks old. The same thing with baby number 2. They are both happy and health kids.

a new born – my boobs were massive and leaked milk. Son was a premie and could not suck. I didn’t like breast feeding, or anything around it. I happily went straight to formula. Yep lots of work sterilizing bottles, etc. Worth it for me. Not all of us are cut out to breast feed. I remember feeling bad at the time, looking back, you know what, too bad. My son is grown up now and over 6′ tall and healthy and happy. Do what is best for you love x

All my children were ready feed for at least 12mnths but with my fourth, I just didn’t have enough milk and my doc said that he is not getting enough from me so I put him on formula aswell as breast from 5mnths. After a few weeks he wasn’t interested in breast and I switched to exclusive formula feeds.

You have to do what is right for you and your bub =)

Definitely try the formula to help get a good nights sleep. If bub is 4 months or older, you could also start solids. I went straight from breast milk to cows milk as my kids were old enough when I weaned them from the breast

6ish months due to weigh loss, I still breast fed also. It’s personal choice. I did a bottle before bed to start with them slowly completely swapped over to formula.

1 – 6 weeks, 2 – 8 months 3 – 12 weeks 4 – 2 years, 5 – 6 months still bf

Both of my sons stopped breast feeding before 6 months. My eldest stopped at 16 weeks as I dried up and my youngest (and 7month old) stopped feeding at 19 weeks because he decided that his top up bottle at night was actually more filling then what I was giving him during the day. I had the usual mummy’s guilt to begin with, then I discovered that both of my boys became more settled through out the day, slept longer over night, were less sooky and were more content, I started being able to get things done around the house as I wasn’t feeding for an hour every 2-3 hours. Hubby and my eldest son (now 5) were both able to bond more with baby as they got to have cuddles and feed him. I’ve only used karicare and aptimal as I haven’t had any issues (gas, constipation, sore tummies) with those formulas but that’s in my own personal experience. Whatever you choose to do has to be right for you and your children, breast isn’t always best when it’s causing stress to mum and bubs. I ask anyone who wishes to judge another mother to go to a shopping centre and without talking to anyone pick if they were breast or formula fed. You can’t. It’s impossible. It needs to be what’s best for you. Best of luck xx

My first was 4 weeks old, second weaned onto a cup at 2, third and fourth were 6 months old.

Go to the bottle…you have given your bub the best start, but for both of you going to the bottle will be a relief and the best for both of you. Formula is not the devil.

You dont say how old your bub is but my eldest 2 were breast fed until they were a year old or just over.
The youngest one decided at 9mths that she didnt want to be breast feed anymore and switched to a bottle with cows milk. She was fine and never had any problems with it.

You could always try a bottle before bed. I did, and found it made no difference. My baby started sleeping through about 4 months old, and it made no difference whether i gave him formula or not.
What has made a difference is a meal of solids at tea time though, and i only started that around 5 months old, now he loves it.
I think that you should do what you feel the most comfortable and least stressed doing. Breast is the best thing, unless it negatively impacts on you as a mum, and then it starts to be a hindrance rather than a help.
My tip is to express a bottle of breast-milk and give it to bub of a nighttime before bed. I have now switched to expressing full time due to my baby’s lip and tongue tie but when he was littler i did it to help him to put on an acceptable amount of weight and he always slept at least 6 hours after a bottle of expressed milk. You might find giving your bub a bottle of breast milk is what is needed rather than having to give formula which is very expensive.
Just remember that the less milk bub drinks from you, the less you will make, its a vicious circle.
If you do decide to give a bottle of formula, i found Bellamy’s Organic was the closest to breast milk and didnt constipate my boy at all.

Both my babies had to be formula fed. I know breast is best, but they are both fine, developed well and are very clever girls. A bit of asthma, which runs in family anyway. Do whats best for you and your baby.

I had supply issues & my boys have problems with lactose. I introduced formula at 8wks & mix fed until 8mths with my 1st. I was a bit quicker to start formula with my 2nd due to low supply. He started mix feeding from 4wks & went on to strait formula at 5+1/2mths.

I have had 5 beautiful healthy babies, and I had trouble replenishing breast milk, so all of mine were bottlefed by about 4-6 months (unfortunately). Everybody is different though, so dont stress. You will find what is right for you and your bub x

I am currently doing this with my 15 week old and have been since she was 10 weeks old and not putting on enough weight. Formula was not the issue with us more the bottle. We had to try a few different bottles before we had success and she now takes a bottle using the closer to nature ones. The beauty is that even though she is breastfed the rest of the time I am still able to give her the bottle with no problems. Good Luck
