Hello!

I’m a 28 year old mother of three. It is believed I am going through early menopause. Please tell me what were your symptoms, how did you deal with them and did you go on to have more kids. (I thought I was done with kids but the idea of losing my fertility makes me want to have my fourth). Thanks :)

  • You write it is believed that you go through early menopause. When I were you I would like this diagnosis officially confirmed and request a referral to a specialist

  • Mine isn’t early menopause, just the normal old age one, my worst symptom is hot flushes. They’re dreadful

  • I had a friend that went through early menopause at 30. She has no children… she would have been an amazing Mum.

  • yes I did as well. Had strong chemo treatment and that made me go through menopause. Just glad I had my daughter. I feel said because can not have anymore but least I have her and she has got me. That’s the main thing.

  • Doesn’t sound like you’ve been tested when you say ‘it is believed’ need to be tested first and as far as symptoms go, there’s a long list and not everyone is the same.

  • get tested because it could be something else too

  • I hope your not going though early menopause, you could just have a hormone imbalance which is mimicking the symptoms

  • Hot flushes, dry vagina, moodswings. Have a blood test to check your hormone levels

  • It you suspect it and it is worrying you, go and speak to your Dr. About your concerns.

  • It is different for everyone…. look at getting a Mirena fitted this lasts for 5 years and will hopefully delay the peri=menopause

  • there are some good comments here

  • im so scared of this i have yet to have a baby of my own and im scared ill be going though it

  • I started early menopause in my early 30’s. I had to have a hysterectomy due to painful periods. I could have stayed pregnant constantly, less problems. They told me that I would go through a terrible time wanting more kids and it would be very hard.
Funnily enough, I was excited, no more periods, I did have mood swings and hot flushes, no matter where I would walk I would get red in the face and perspire terribly. This continued for 15 years. I decided I had enough told my gp I wanted to go on HRT, but then the symptoms slowed down. I was one of the unlucky ones who went through menopause for almost 16 years, probably because it was forced due to the hysterectomy. I am so grateful now, I never wanted any more children, I didn’t go through any desires for more kids, just happy with grandkids now.
You think you may want more children, but realistically you will find that you can love your 3, enjoy going through menopause, just think – NO MORE PERIODS. You can make love with your partner and really enjoy it without wondering if you will fall pregnant. It makes it more exciting. Good Luck. xxx Dee

  • If you are not done with having children talk to your gyno as soon as possible. It is possible to be suffering menopause at your age or you may have another problem. Sort this out quickly and stop worrying. You will benefit from knowing one way or another. You can always get a second opinion.

  • It is very possible, but go see your doc to find out what exactly is going on.

  • 28 is young….. Have you had a test at doc?

  • Wow 28 does sound early. I would speak to your obstetrician and see what they say.

  • The gp hasn’t done a menopause test because i was having 40 other blood tests and twice weekly appointments with another doctor after becoming almost bedridden for nearly a year and I’m about to see the specialist. In the mean time I’ve been put on a low dose antidepressant while I wait for the specialist. It’s my doctor who said early menopause as I was telling her I was having extreme sweating during the day, moods swings, night sweats, nightmares, my periods were coming earlier and stopping halfway through, not sleeping, bad memory etc…I just posted the questions for any other information. Thanks for your answers.

  • Best bet is to go have a talk with your GP. A simple blood test would be the first thing to do. You may just be stressing about something that isn’t even happening. Good luck.

  • Don’t stress! Go talk to your doctor, have a few tests. A blood test will tell you where you are at.
If you want that forth child the go for it.
