Hello!

I get really bad cramps at night and pain is intense and wakes me up and I find it hard to get back to sleep. Does anyone have any suggestions for ways to ease them? A natural solution would be great!

  • Do you mean leg cramps? or tummy cramps? Maybe try a magnesium supplement.

  • Talk to a Natropath Magnesium is the key as well as hydration. This combination will work for sure.

  • stretch it out and take multi vitamins.

  • Yeh magnesium and drinking enough water. If it’s before you go to sleep try a heat pack or hot water bottle for short term comfort. Lots of effort in the middle of the night though.

  • Definitely magnesium as every one else suggested.. Check your diet for too much salt and sugar intake aswell

  • I use magnesium spray before I go to sleep, hope this helps. I don’t get them as bad as you do tho.

  • Thank you very much for your helpful answers!!!! I have the Magnesium and hope to get some good results!!!!

  • I had these when pregnant. horrible.

  • MOMS have supplied great answers as usual,
also loosen your bed overs especially at the feet and don’t have the bottom sheet pulled to tight. Wishing you all the best. 🙂

  • I was told by my podiatrist to take magnesium for my restless legs at night & it has certainly helped the cramps. She did stress that I check with my doctor though before I started taking them as it can interfere with some other medications you may be taking.

  • Magnesium! Try to take one tablet one hour before going to bed!

  • You might need a magnesium supplement. Gentle stretches might also help you, especially after a long day on your feet.

  • I find doing some legs stretches before bed really helps. I also take magnesium.

  • The most common causes of cramp are dehydration and/or a deficiency in either Potassium and/or Magnesium. Make sure your water intake is sufficient and take a multivitamin. Stretching before you go to bed may also help and when it occurs, apply cold or heat and massage. If it continues and is severe and persisting – please see your Doctor.

  • I take magnesium in the evenings and it really helps. I got awful night cramps when I was pregnant.

  • I have heard magnesium supplements are great for that just be wary if you are breastfeeding as it can give bub diarrohea! Found that out the hard way

  • I had the same problem about 10 years ago. Absolute agony and would happen numerous times a week.

Someone suggested my diet was lacking salt, so I increased my salt intake and I haven’t had it since. I know it seems counter-productive considering the “anti salt” recommendations these days, but I don’t add salt over my food – only more in the cooking process.
