Hello!

We are now a single income family as I just had child 4 & 5 in March this year. I won’t be going back to work anytime soon and was wondering what other mums do to make extra money?

  • Market Research is easy,in a group or one on one interview and they pay you for the hour.

  • I used to deliver newspapers, Also if you survey, where you collect points, you can put those points into gift cards. So you can get Coles or Woolworths cards to help pay for the groceries. I use Toluna or mysurvey

  • While I was on maternity leave, I picked up a little work at my kids extracurricular activities. It was the kind of work I could do while my kids where there – helping in the office at dancing, assisting a class at kinder gym, volunteering at Little Athletics, but it gained my kids free classes in additional to small income for me (in some cases, not all) or other costs covered.

Just removing some of the expenses that the kids have was as good as an income and let me be more involved.

  • also any service that you can offer- cleaning, cooking, child minding, child transport, shopping, baby sitting, pet walking, ironing, washing. i know it isn’t the most glamorous but price yourself competitivly and you should have a chance, these are the worst jobs and you can do them from home while taking care of the kids

  • these are great ideas. surveys are good for a little bit of a bonus. i’ve only just joined some so i am waiting for the reward

  • I make extra money by advertising a website you get $5 for every person that clicks on your link. Its really simple and a great way to make some extra cash

  • Have you looked at maybe selling Tupperware, Enjo, Thermomixes, Avon, Body shop products.
These are just a few that i can think of that you can do and pick your hours around the children.

  • you could maybe get in some ironing or else join some websites that you can join that allow you to do surveys and you can make a little bit of spare cash

  • If you have a bit of spare time and just want a bit of ‘pocket money’ to buy something now and again there are a couple of options – I used to do surveys and would collect gift cards with the points I earned. It can be done any time of day or night but it does take a long time to see rewards. You can also look into being a mystery shopper which is something you can do with kids. I used to do it, would just have to buy a particular item at Coles while I was doing my regular shopping then when I was home I could jump online and answer questions about the staff and cleanliness of the store. I would get reimbursed for the items they had asked me to buy plus about $20 for completing the survey – not too hard cos I had to get groceries anyway.

  • I wish I knew.
I like the answers you got already but I have already done a couple of different party pans over the years and I am over those.
I really need to get a job I think!

  • I babysit others kids it works well for us

  • Buy a spray tan machine. You can get them from as little as $200.Check out Tan Man facebook page.He has lots of good ones.$20-30 per tan you can charge,so you make some good money off it especially during summer, and you can do it all from home or mobile.Print up some flyers hand them out at uni’s,hairdresser’s etc.

  • I am selling Arbonne, a skin care and makeup range that is vegan and often recommended by dermatologists. It has very little outlay to start and no minimum sales. You can do it through one on one sessions, small parties or online. Let me know if you are interested and I will pass on more details.

  • I’m an Oasis Homewares Consultant. Absolutely the BEST decision I’ve ever made with my partner the sole income earner but now I’m able to help with a wonderful business that offers this opportunity to anyone :-) I head out to parties when he is home watching our 3 cherubs. we offer full training and support all the way throughout your Oasis Journey weather it be a consultant or leadership, also qualify for trips to Bali and other beautiful places. We are currently looking for more consultants in Tasmania and throughout Australia. I’m happy to answer any questions or have a chat – just email me samantha.ransley@hotmail.com x

  • I signed up with a party plan company called Younique. We sell naturally based animal cruelty free products. I am a stay at home mum with no one to be able to babysit if I were to go back out to work and I needed to earn some extra money. The best thing about it is that instead of doing in home parties it is all social media based so you get paid to use Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest etc and you can put in as much or little effort as you want. It is the best decision I ever made.

  • I signed up for a party plan business called PartyLite selling candles and decorator homewares. I love it because I can choose my own hours to do demonstrations/parties and they usually are night times or weekends when hubby isn’t working so he can babysit. There are other companies you can choose selling cosmetics, jewellery, clothes, tupperware etc but I chose PartyLite because it didn’t cost anything to start – they had a great start up offer where whatever I sold at my first party ($650 worth of product to friends and family) took that amount off my kit price. Not the profit, they actually matched it dollar for dollar. I like the support of having leaders to ask for advice and support but mostly I love choosing when and where and how often I want to work. I earn 20% of what is sold so its usual to get about $100 for 3-4 hours ‘work’ talking about candles and drinking coffee!
