How to remove stains from a white lounge?

Hello!

I have a beautiful white fabric lounge, but over the years it has acquired a couple of stains (including wine and choccy spots hehe). What’s the best way to remove them? I have put the covers through the wash but it doesn’t seem to do the best job. I would like to sell it as we are moving house, but wouldn’t be able to in the state it’s in. Any suggestions would be fabulous.

Unfortunately you haven’t stated what the fabric is. Napisan Oxy made into paste and rubbed into the fabric should get it off. I would soak them overnight or during the day for a few hours. Ordinary Napsian probably won’t get if off. You need the strong one. Are there labels on the inside of the cushion covers? They may have washing instructions on them.

I saw this great idea the other day. I tried it on my white lounge and it worked really well. I think that the process would be virtually the same, no matter what the fabric, but you could always try a spot test first.

I would consult a store that sells furniture and ask what they use to remove stubborn stains.

you can buy a product at Bunnings called white spirits (it is a dry cleaning spirit) comes in a 1lt bottle and is made by Diggers (it is NOT expensive) and may help with the problem…you can also think about a carpet cleaning service but this is expensive.

that is a tough one! i know that you are supposed to get onto stains straight away but for whatever reasons that we don’t, patch test any product first. my aunt had a white couch with stains and used a product which got rid of the stain but then left a big grey stain from the product instead. good luck

Soak in napisan and bleach (I know it says not to mix but it works like magic) overnight, 24 hours if possible. Old stains are really stubborn but as they are organic it should work.

Have you tried a drop or two of hydrogen peroxide? I was watching a tv show today at my daughter’s place and they said if you get blood or wine on a fabric eg pillow slip, sheet etc just put a couple of drops of household hydrogen peroxide on the stain, let it soak in, then wash in the normal manner! I would test it on an inconspicuous spot first though just to make sure it is ok. Hope this helps.

spray with spray and wipe, give a soft scrub with a nail brush and blot dry with a wet cloth.

Soak the cushion covers over night in Stain removing wash you can buy in the Washing powder section of your supermarket. Make a paste of this product and paint on the problem areas. Wash as normal.
