If depends a bit on how many teeth your baby has and whether she is teething at the moment.
You may need to teach her how to hold it in her hand. It may be that she lacks confidence when it is something new like many babies do. She wouldn’t have enough teeth to have carrot sticks for awhile. A baby / toddler often doesn’t chew them enough and can choke on carrot. You could try with fruit cut up in fairly small pieces. I had one that was nibbling bits off and not chewing and swallowing it until his mouth was too full. She may not want cheese as it is fairly fatty for a young child’s liver and digestion to cope with. I have one who even at 10 y.o. will only eat a small amount of cheese – in cooking only.
Having the same issue – will suck on things when I put to bubs mouth but not on her own…I just keep modelling and trying. All babies develop at different rates – she’ll get it and you’ll be surprised!
