Hello!

“How do I stop my 6 year old from wetting the bed? Have tried mostly everything. I have put a torch under his pillow for the night, but he still wets the bed. Thanks”

  • Boys can take a bit longer to master this skill
My son regularly wet his bed till age 10 or so.
    We did;
-reduce water intake before the night
-take him to the toilet before we went to bed (between 10-11pm)
-mattress protector so his mattress didn’t get spoiled
And overall we didn’t make a big deal of it; just involved my son to take the bedding off when it occurred, popped it in the washing machine and put some clean sheets on; no negative talk about it

  • We got a bed wetting alarm that went off every time he wet the bed took about 3 weeks. He was 6.

  • Less water before bed?

  • I would suggest taking him to the Dr and finding out if there are any underlying problems.

  • I hope he grows out of it soon, that is all you can do if there is nothing medically wrong

  • How is he going now?

  • Some children just take a little longer than others

  • how is he going now?

  • It does seem that the boys take longer and from other questions about this it seems that until they are seven it isn’t considered a problem (by the doctors).

  • Hope you have had some success with the bed wetting.

  • How is he going now?

  • You could also talk to your GP about it.

  • Don’t forget you can also get Dry nites pants for this age.

  • Ask the chemist and they may have something you can use

  • Some children are just such solid sleepers that they can’t wake themselves up at night if they need to go to the toilet, they will grow out of it, my daughter did.

  • I hope that you worked something out

  • Hope it improves for you soon

  • Toilet straight before bed, only sips of water no big drinks, if washing his sheets is becoming a hassle put him in pull ups just of a night time. Hope things have improved for you

  • Wake him up t night to go to he toilet.

  • make sure he goes to the toilet before going to sleep .Perhaps wake him up once during the night
