Hello!

Kids are grown. Husband is retired. I just want to try working again after being a wife, mum and a volunteer just about everywhere since the kids were little.

  • I hope you were able to find some work.

  • You’re never too old. Part time job or returning to school/uni for further education are possibilities at any age. If you want it, go for it. Good luck

  • Good on you, and no, you are not too old. Go for it!

  • Never too old. There are a variety of things that you could do. You’ve got a wealth of experience having been a volunteer. There are a number of short courses that you could do. I know of a few people that have done a home and community carer course later in life and a few that had been volunteers before studying.

  • Definitely go and enjoy working, 55 is still a young age and l’m sure you have alot to offer! Good Luck!

  • You’re not too old. Go for it.

  • It is always a good idea to polish up a resume and do a few short courses when re-entering the workforce.

  • That’s great, depending on your skills and what you enjoy that will determine what sort of work you look for but I say go for it!

  • You are never to old to try to get a job, My advise would be to get a short course or two under your belt.. To help you get back into a routine of some sort.. And if you are lucly they might be able to put you intouch with a group that can help you find a job of some sort..

  • Fifty five is not old and plenty of people of this age are in the work force and doing all sorts of jobs. Good luck with finding a job.

  • That’s great you are keen . It’s never too late and maybe use your volunteer skills to find something suitable . Good luck :)

  • No not at all! Good luck and enjoy!!

  • Go for it. Good on you. I wish you all the best

  • No not at all! Get yourself out there & apply

  • Definitely not. You are young and full of life. Whoever have you as employee will have someone with a lot of life experience plus your qualification.
    Good luck!

  • No – as well as whatever work skills you have, you now have a lot of life experience to offer.

  • At 55 you are in the prime of your life. Why don’t you ask if there is a position at the places you volunteered at as they know you and your work ethics? I finished work last year and I am now volunteering at the local neighbourhood house and they offered me a few days paid work.

  • You are never to old to follow what your heart desires,, If you are not having any luck try joining groups as a general member, one of the mums pointed out to me as i have been out of work for over 8 years i need something to put on my CV for when i do go back to work. It only takes a few hours a month but i joined my kids kinder commuity, soon i hope to join the school commitee as well as do a short course or two offered by the local tafe… I know i wont get to far by doing this but at least it is something to prove i am willing to join in and learn and to make a difference.. Its not a persons age that defines them it their willingness to make a difference in what they know and a willingness to earn new things…

  • You are never too old! Good luck and good on you for being brave enough to put yourself out there.

  • No, I don’t think 55 is too old you gave a wealth of experience, maturity and level headedness. Go for it, have a try, I’m sure something will come your way
