Good luck with that! You’re right, people aren’t interested unless it’s for nothing. I have a brand new, never used coffee machine. Tried to sell it, $100 off its normal retail price. Not one offer. I dropped it another $20, nothing. Looks like someone is getting a coffee machine for their bday or Christmas

It is so hard to sell clothes, especially used clothes. People want everything for free and brand new :/

I find that joining your local Facebook buy, swap, sell page can help- I have saved money on buying kids clothes by getting brand new items or as new items for a small fraction of the price (and good quality brands too). I also then use the page to resell all of my kids clothes. Depending on what items you have you can do all right out of it, I’ve even sold bundles of play clothes for $10 and every little bit does help!
Another thing that I have found that helps with shopping budgets is that if you are going to cook a meal bulk it up with a few extra vegies, a bit more sauce, a little extra rice or pasta, etc. and then freeze your left overs. I can end up with a whole weeks worth of dinners that way, which not only saves me time, it also saves me money on groceries on the weeks when I am not having to buy ingredients for dinners, and I am not really putting that much extra money into my meals that would actually make a difference because meat is the most expensive part.

I,ve tried to sell products but like u they wan,t them 4 nothing gumtree maybe worth a try if u kids go 2 kidder/school.u can put up notices around the shops good luck

Second hand clothing is difficult to sell unless they are high end brands. Ebay is your best point to sell clothing, however there is a lot of competition. You will also need to consider Ebay and Paypal fees (combined can take away 13% of your sale and shipping price). Good photos are key in selling clothing.
Both garage sales, flea markets and Facebook pages will have people drive the price down. You can expect about $1 a piece for most articles.
Selling in bulk will give you the most profits, especially with good photos. Consider categories or combos that go well together. Good descriptions and a professional way of writing will draw more people into buying.

In terms of saving, the easiest way is to only have 80% of your income available. Have 20% automatically enter a savings account and pretend it does not exist. You will be surprised how many thousands of dollars you end up accumulating, even on a small salary.

Gumtree is always an option, or a local carboot/garage sale. Have a look at sites like this to win prizes that then you can use the money you would of spent on them to save, or rewards central/mystery shopping and things like that.

Try finding somewhere like a car boot sale / garage sale where you can bring all the things you want to sell – much easier than posting individual adverts, waiting for replies, waiting for no-shows, or arranging postage etc. Could look at paper delivery etc. for causal extra money; check gumtree out for odd jobs (but be careful of scams); volunteers at community events (fun runs etc.) are also paid in some events and you can handout water etc. to earn your money.

Flea markets are good for selling clothes too – better during the warmer months.

Making home made washing powder, using fuel discount dockets, turning off the microwave during the day, turning off lights TV. I think a lot of people are finding they need to look at ways of saving. I joined a pay it forward site that I believe saved me money, I often check out pop shops and buy from bulk end 50% off in the supermarkets.

Clothes can also be sold in shops on consignment. Maybe try this too?

I never tried to sell clothes. Generally I just bring them to op shops.
Wouldn’t a garage sale be easier than selling in eBay? I don’t know. I often buy in eBay but I’ve never sold anything there.

Selling on ebay can make you a profit but ONLY with the right brands. There are maany brands that sell for top dollar which you can scout from Op Shops especially if your in a non metro area. Metro op shops sadly have very high prices.

Then theres sought after items like Lego and vintage items like the “My Child Doll” which are rare but I do have friends in the picking job that have come across some fantastic finds.

I have found this too. People expect to get good quality for next to nothing in price. I recently tried to sell tickets valued at over $600 for $400, no go. They eventually went for $300, but it’s disappointing

Facebook is good for selling on. Or ebay. Gumtree probably not as successful in selling clothes. Try selling as bulk lots
