Hello!

My fiancé is really eager to see snow for the first time, but I’m not so sure it’s really worth it. Price of entry, accomodation, fuel, etc. So expensive! For those who have been, what was your experience and was it worth it in your opinion?

  • It’s definitely worth it but for a few days not just one

  • You’re so lucky mom206279 !!
I grew up in a country where there was plenty of snow in the winter which provided plenty of snow and ice fun. However I assume you really mean winter sport ? That’s pretty expensive indeed, but once you have the gear you may want to go on winter sport year in year out :)

  • Where I live we’re about an hour away from Mt St Gwinear which gets lots of snow but isn’t a resort. There is no entry fee but you aren’t allowed up without carrying snow chains in your car. There is a food van and a couple of toboggan runs. Its great for a day trip and less expensive than a day at the zoo. The photo was last weekend. Mt Donna Buang is close to Melbourne and free and has snow play areas but I’ve never been.

  • Depends where you are located! It might be cheaper to get a package deal overseas for the cost of transport, accomodation and skii hire/lift passes for Australia.

  • It is alot of fun but it does come at a price!

  • It depends what you mean visit the snow. If you are going skiing on a holiday then that can be a fantastic holiday there are family deals at a lot of the resorts with a package of lessons ski hire etc but it is a very expensive site holiday as there is accomodation, food, transport, lift hire, ski and boot hire, Lift pass, clothing (hire or buy) and lessons.

  • Maybe look into package deals for the snow – can be a saving.

  • We love going to the snow and it is always quite magical and fun. We keep our trips to a budget which is always important.

  • We went once, to New Zealand, to show the snow to our daughter who was maybe 7 at the time. It was expensive but surely worth it. Everybody should see the snow once. I wish I could bring my dog one day. :-)

  • We sometimes have snowfall in our backyard, it’s pretty special. But when there’s expense involved, it could be a different story
