Hello!

Hi I’m 26 weeks pregnant and baby sits extremely low. Her head is at one hip and her feet at the other, this is causing me such horrible back pain and joint pain in my legs. Should she be this low as she never has moved up? And any tips to ease the pressure pain?

  • I would check with my Doctor first to see if they have any suggestions. Also have you thought of massaging your tummy, good for you and baby, use baby oil and lay down and put nice music on calming and massage both of you. It will relax baby and you (do not make it a chore) enjy hope it does the trick

  • How are you going now ? Hope you got some help via your doctor and or midwife !

  • Yes it can be. If you are worried you should speak to your OB! The oak can be combatted with women’s health physio and/or a brace! Goodluck… It’s not much fun, but just try to think of what you are going to get at the end of it all

  • Lying down is probably the only way to relieve the back pressure. You poor thing, hope someone has given you some advice that ha worked

  • With my twin pregnancy (babies 12 and 13) I was like that from the start. The pain affected me to a point where I couldn’t walk to do my shopping, or stand to do the dishes. It is because my ab muscle seperation was so big from previous pregnancies. I found abdomend pregnancy support band and found that it helped tremendously.

  • You can move her around to suit you. Go to the toilet and then a walk.

  • Thank you for all your lovely replies. really appreciate the advice. with my first he always Sat so high so this is all new to me.

  • yeah and a lot of middies will dismiss your pubic bone pain as just regular pregnancy pain. i was lucky that i found a really good doc that showed me the “proper” way to move while suffering with that. try to keep your legs together as much as possible especially when getting out of bed, sit down to put pants on lol. when bub runs out of room there, she will move lol

  • Your obst. may be able to turn the baby a bit to relieve the pressure, but there is no guarantee that the baby won’t turn back into that position within a short time. A physio can help you with exercises etc. If you can swim either swimming or walking in a pool apparently helps relieve some of the pressure too. I know a mum-to-be who is following this treatment method.

  • Oh golly! Just reading your letter, took me back in time! My son was breached and I was in agony, I went to have regular chiropractic care. This helped with the pain, I really trusted my chiropractor. My son was a lot larger than his sisters and was the fastest and easiest delivery! Iam small and he was a monster baby for me. I wad able see an elbow or knee poking out and I would poke him back and he would move about. Lol it never harmed him. It was the strangest experience though.

  • i experienced this with my last pregnancy but i was told that because i have had babies before that the muscles that supports the uterus is stretched out. also my baby sat in breach for all the pregnancy until 36 weeks and therefore every stretch of the legs, made intense pressure down there and i had a really sore pubic bone and it hurt to open or lift my legs etc. so yeah it was just the way that i carried and any concerns etc that you have, talk to your doctor/midwife about.
