Hello!

Do rum balls, apricot balls and White Christmas freeze OK? I’d like to make a few big batches early but don’t want them going off (or getting eaten) before Christmas.

  • I’m not sure, I’ve never frozen them after making. You might get better results freezing if you use vacuum sealed bags.

  • Yes they freeze fine, although personally I think it alters the taste a bit.

  • they freeze fine. i freeze mine every year without problem. although they still get eaten before Christmas as i find that rum balls don’t ever freeze hard and can be eaten straight from the freezer yum

  • Great questions thanks.. have a heap of rum balls from a party and didn’t want to waste

  • Thanks for the info, I love this site, all my answers in one place!! I am currently using up huge amounts of dried apricots that my parents have given me and it is becoming a challenge, this info really helps, we will be snacking for months.

  • Thanks everybody, saving this for next yr so I remember =)

  • Thanks for the answers I also was wondering that.

  • I have just about filled up the freezer with Christmas goodies; helps over the Christmas/holiday period.

  • Yes they will be fine – and you’ll have one less thing to do on Christmas Day. You’re making me feel like I should get started now too!

  • Sure can, I also freeze run balls & pop them frozen into the middle of cupcakes before baking & they taste divine :-)

  • I always freeze chocolate coconut balls. They always taste just as good after they have been frozen.
Have never tried freezing white choc slice though.

  • yeah they freeze great! it is good to have a big container ready to go!

  • Good question and the answer is yes, preparation is the key to a stress free Christmas ..

  • Rum balls and apricot balls freeze really well, wrap and put in a container. Haven’t tried white Christmas. Does it have rice bubbles in it? May not freeze too well if it does.

  • I make the mix early and freeze it to be rolled later!

  • I do a lot of cooking and freezing prior to Christmas and all of the food freezes and keeps well. It is a great time saver on the day and the time is better spent enjoying Christmas!

  • Yes they would be fine just make sure sealed properly.

  • The balls and most slices do also I like to do my Christmas cooking early to probably the only one that I haven’t frozen before is the white Christmas but this will keep in the fridge for a couple of week before Christmas anyway.

  • Yes they do….really really well…my kids love to eat them frozen too…I always have them handy in the freezer..all year long …merry Xmas

  • I’d say the balls are fine but I’m not 100% sure about the white christmas. Hopefully another mum will know.
