Well, there is a danger aspect due to the chance of accidentally spilling hot liquids on the baby

Nothing immediately goes into breastmilk so you’re fine.

I’d probably play it safe and have the coffee at another time in case you spill the hot liquid.

I have breasted 3 kids and never had coffee while doing it as the caffeine makes babies wake up more at night

I would probably not have anything hot bear my baby whilst breastfeeding, accidents happen and I’d hate to think it could’ve easily been prevented.

I know a Mum who drank a lot of black coffee to dry her breastmilk up. I don’t know who told her that but it certainly worked. She went from having way too much to almost nothing within 7 days. She told a relative she didn’t want to be a Jersey (cow). She had trouble gettting her baby to take a bottle but she never expressed milk and bottled it at all (it would take too long).

I once was breastfeeding my son holding him in my left arm, whilst holding a hot cup of tea in my right hand. Being sleep deprived I started dozing off and the tea started pouring. I remember my husband taking it off me.
All I want to say is that hot drink around babies can be a bit dangerous when you’re tired, but otherwise enjoy it !

You are still feeding your baby, you have nothing to feel guilty about. Enjoy your coffee, you deserve it. I drink mine whilst bf, I just make sure I’m extra careful and it’s not scalding hot.

I drink 3 over the course of the day and bubs is fine! Don’t forget to enjoy the small pleasures yourself too, being a breastfeeding mum can be tough!

It didn’t do any harm to my daughter when I was breastfeeding her. I think if you enjoy a coffee have a coffee.

Completely fine! If you’re having more than one a day tho maybe have coffee afterwards

There are so many conflicting messages these days about what is right and wrong regarding this and other things about raising children. At the end of the day I believe one needs to work out what is right for them, I too felt guilty with so many things and so some of them I just simply changed (like to decaf coffee) and therefore minimized the many guilts that I felt.

Small amounts of caffeine is unlikely to affect your milk. But as other posters have suggested be careful not to spill any hot coffee on bub – that would be a bigger risk.

I’d say so long as its not boiling hot? Just incase it spills. Mine are always warm by the time I actually get to me anyway 🙂

Yes! Just don’t sit the cup on the baby and don’t spill it
