Is the school kids bonus being taken away next year?

Hello!

It is that time of year again! My friend reminded me to make sure all our details were right as they just up-dated theirs. This could be a great reminder for you ladies too 🙂 my friend said that next year, she thought that the school bonus was getting taken away. Have you ladies heard this too and how will it work then? Do you go back to claiming on your tax? I am not sure as I have only ever dealt with the bonus, not tax stuff.

The tax laws change all the time and gets confusing . If you have a tax agent , maybe go back to them and ask about that . I know now a lo of things can now be claimed as school deductions such as uniforms , building levys etc.. Everyone situation is different so I think it will never be a straight answer .

Yes the schooolkids bonus is being phased out. Check with Centrelink or the DHS website to see if there are any other payments you may be eligible for.

Yeah, it’s a bit concerning ! Maybe we’ll get more back from our tax claims now the bonus will be taken away.

2016 is meant to be he last year,its really upsetting as this payment helped us set them up with everything for school for the year.

Centrelink should be able to provide you with all of the information and be able to give you fact sheets and links. Good luck with getting the information you need.

Im not sure when its going to stop, but it really does help cover the fees in full for the year and the cost of uniforms. ( my kids go to a public primary school ).

I really hope they won’t take it away next year. It would be devastating!!
