Mice are a plague ! Natweeza’s advice is great.

Fill any holes with steel wool. Mice can’t chew through it so it will keep them out

yes you have humane traps where you could throw it away if you don’t want to directly deal with the mouse. don’t have to bait it either, just set it where the mice run and they will be curious and take a look then get trapped.

Have bought lots of steel wool to try with the holes and gaps!

When I was a child we lived in a “solid” brick house. The mice managed to get into the wall cavity then down past the tiniest little gap between the ceiling and the flu of the gas copper.

I agree with NATWEEZA – you will need to seal the entry point to stop any further little mice from getting in!

Check out hardware store – Bunnings or Masters or Mitre 10, there are traps where the mouse goes inside and a door shuts (you then have to put the whole thing in a bucket of water I think) But there’s no poison – just a final meal for them inside the tube.

I have heard of ecofriendly traps that mice go into and the trap shuts and then you have to release the live mouse away from your home.

You will need to make your home mouse proof if you don’t want to use baits or traps. Fill all the gaps and holes with steel wool and cover with silicone or sealant. Peppermint oil is supposed to help as a deterrant but it won’t be enough.

I’ve never tried it, but some people claim that peppermint oil helps a lot. Worth a try!
