Hello!

I am nearly 50, just wondering do people cut their long hair when older. It was suggested to me as I’m getting older I should cut my hair! Never thought long hair on older ladies was a issue. What do u think?

  • I have friends in their 60s with long hair and it looks fine on them. I prefer my hair to be shorter because I think it suits me better and it’s easier to take care of.

  • I used to see older women with long grey hair when I was younger and think I would never do that! I’m over 50 now, a few grey hairs, and it’s still early down to my bottom. A bit of rebellion from my younger years when dad used to cut my hair so short, people thought I was a boy. Ever since I was old enough to have it long, I have

  • I would try it!

  • I don’t think it’s an issue do what suits you.

  • If you suit long hair then why not? You can always tie it up or experiment with different styles.

  • I think it’s your life, it’s your hair! If you love it long then keep it. It does not hurt anybody, it’s not offensive… shove what anyone may or may not think!

  • I hate it when people tell you what to do with your hair,it’s none of their business! I have long hair and love it!

  • Shorter hair has advantages.Mine has always been cut a bit shorter since I had the kids . It is more manageable, and maintenaince is much easier . Also you use less shampoo as well and is quicker to dry . I think cutting it on the neckline is nice , not too short or long .

  • I think it’s a personal decision. Some people look better with short hair and other better with long hair.

  • It will grow back if u had enough i hope u donated it to charity!

  • I think that long hair on an older female is fine, just so long as it is still trimmed and styled to look flattering and not just hanging down on either side of your face. It used to be men that insisted on their women having long hair even if they looked like monkeys. So let your mirror provide the answer to your query.

  • Your hair! have it the length and style you like! Do not let anyone define you! :)

  • I wouldn’t cut it. If it looks healthy, it’s enough for me to keep it.

  • 50 isn’t old! i like longer hair on women. go for it!

  • It’s such a hard decision, I cut mine short purely on the basis that it was easier to look after. It’s funny, some people love it and others tell me I should grow it back. But it’s my head, so I’ll do what’s best for me. You could cut it gradually of you’re unsure, to test the waters.

  • I think everyone is entitled to their own opinions but that they should not expect others to go along with their ideas of right and wrong.
If you enjoy having your hair long and there are no healthy factors that make having long hair an issue then keep it as you want.
At age 28 my hair was down to my knees, I alternated between knee length and butt length for a period of 14 years. Though I never did much with it style wise , pony tails or buns!
Then I saw the cause Beautiful lengths run in conjunction with Pantene and I cut it all off and donated it! No regrets and would do it again if I ever let my hair grow long again ;D

  • A hairdresser told me that the longer your hair is, the more it drags your face down and makes you look older, but i dont think its true. Some people suit short hair and others dont, and personally i would do whatever you are comfortable with. :) I know i hate my hair short, so it means i always keep it at least shoulder length.
Its your hair, you know what you like :)

  • Everyone feels like a millionaire when they have a haircut always nice to try something different and if you dont like it, it will grow back :)

  • Great opinions, I’m feeling more confident ,as I thought I should do what My Mum said Long hair is my idea & it’s what I’m going to do !

  • Its a very personal choice. It doesnt matter how old you are, its what you like and feel comfortable with.
