Hello!

For the first time since our daughter started at kindy, we have run our daughters party at a venue where entertainment and catering was done. Very active activities and very happy kids. So very much easier than at home, and not terribly much more expensive. It took 5 years to do this!!! Do others use home, or venues for school aged kids parties? What’s your reasoning?

  • It depends on the kind of party my kid wants. Some venues are fabulous – usually the ones that include catering – and others are a total pain. So we do some at home and some at venues.

  • It has always been mixed – sometimes at home and sometimes at venues. Just depends on what kind of party the child would like, e.g. slumber party, beach party etc.

  • maccas is great for kids parties. they do everything, you just rock up!

  • Venues, that way you can explain to your kid due to costs etc they can not invite the whole class. Then you find out who their real friends are.

  • Good point – home is under your control.

  • I prefer home. You can control it much better.

  • I have done both and prefer home over a venue. Home is more relaxed and there is more opportunity to chat with parents too.

  • we had kinder parties at home…prep at maccas 13 boys n my daughter chosed hers at home 6 kids. grade 2, had outside soccer in the court, spa and movie 13 boys (never again) we had to move my daughter’s party 8girls to crocs playland as my sons party made the backyard into a football field of mud. new school so a party again- son 13 kids we had it at tunza fun. daughter had it at home neon party 10 girls with fruit salad, muffins, chips and lollies. next year no parties just 2-3 friends for dinner and cake I hope but found out parents celebrate their child’s 10th bday cos its a two digit number. my daughter wanted it at home mostly.. my son because the kids are getting bigger and rougher, its time to hve it somewhere else. my kids are winter babies and it rains all the time on their birthdays or on the date of their parties, their birthdays are 4 weeks apart.

  • We’ve had both home and venue parties. The venue parties were easier on me (no preparation, clean-up) and the kids seem to enjoy them more.

  • When they were little, toddler age,me had them at home as they were were mostly family and family friends that attended. When they got to school age, we switched to venues. For all the reasons you mentioned. They’re catered, they keep the kids busy and the best bit is no cleaning up for mum! Yippee

  • We did both them. Personally I enjoy a lot more the ones at home. Easier to get everything ready instead of driving to and from the venue. But with a lot of the kids (the all class for example) inviting at home it’s simply impossible. Unless you’ve got a huge house.
