Hello!

My partner and I are trying to conceive our second child. The thought of labour still scares me as I know what to expect this time. But I was induced with my first so hopefully 2nd time round it will be better. Was anyone else worried second time around? Or was your labour better?

  • Everyone is different and labour itself is scary for anyone really as that is the sacrifice for wanting to become a mother. Mine wasn’t better , but that is all I will say , but there is no need to cause worry if you have a supportive doctor . All the best .

  • I was induced with my first, who was also an undiagnosed breach. Yet his birth was more bareable than my second child. She was totally natural, no pain relief. Every birth is different so don’t be scared of your second because of what your first was like.

  • I am worried knowing what is ahead but hoping knowing what to expect will also prepare me more

  • I was induced the first time and it was a horrible experience. Wasn’t induced for my second and it was a much nicer experience. If you want more children don’t let the first experience ruin it for you.

  • just remember how wonderful it was to feel your first baby in your arms and how worth it everything all was for that one moment. good luck.

  • We attended birth classes even though this was our second and I believed it helped, the fear of the pain is there but you do sort of know what to expect the second time round so nothing is really surprising or confusing anymore so you can focus a lot more.

  • Don’t worry to much, i have heard every labour is different:)

  • Every labor is different and yes i think we are all scared at times, but we keep going back..lol

  • all labours are different, you can have 10 and each will be felt differently

  • I’m stopping at 1 so will never know! My sister’s second labour was pretty much over in 1/2 hour if that helps put your mind at ease!

  • Would love to know about this too! PLanning for baby number 2 soon :)

  • just remember each and every prgnancy and labour is different … I never believed this myself until it happened …

  • aiming for the 2nd one soon!

  • there are some good comments here

  • good lkuck on it all hope its not to scary for you :)

  • I think it is better the second time around as long as you overcome your fear, I attended a great birthing class the second time around and I think it really helped.

  • I was induced early for my first baby (he was 4.9kgs at 37 weeks) and it was a 13 hour labour. 2nd time round I was being told it was going to be the same but unexpectedly at 36 weeks i went into labour at home and within 1/2 hour my 4.2kg girl was born. The second experience was TOTALLY different to the first in every way so i would just say treat this as if it’s your first cause it doesn’t necessarily mean labour number 2 will be the same as number 1. good luck with it all!

  • I can really recommend looking into getting a doula. I was very scared of my second labour and my doula was a god send..she was there for me during my whole pregnancy/ birth and labour. Couldn’t of done it without her help.

  • My first labour was hard and scary but my second and third were amazing. I taught myself (but you can read a book or get lessons) for hypnotherapy, trust me I am not generally into that stuff but I read a book my midwife gave me about it, I was amazed at how much I was capable of doing. Giving birth naturally with no drugs, no screaming, just breathing through it, I gave birth to a 8 pound 13 oz and 10 pound 7 oz baby without being induced or having intervention or even any damage done. I left the hospital after 5 hours. It was amazing, I don’t want a 4th baby but if I did fall pregnant, I wouldn’t worry because I know I can get through it and everything will be fine.

  • Im also a bit worried…
