Has anyone tried the LCHF diet? How did you find it, easy to keep up with or not? How did you feel on it?

  • I’m not sure what the abbreviation stands for. I can never stick to a diet.

  • im really interested in it and tried it once but failed after a week or so. have to be organized and strong willed!

  • Cutting out a food group completely would never work for me. And long term I can’t see it being sustainable

  • Id never actually heard about it until now, thanks for informing me.

  • LCHF is really big at the moment. I’m in a weight loss group and about half the participants are doing it and loving it. Personally I’m not willing to give up carbs (think carrots, pumpkin, banana) so it would never work for me.

  • My Dr says low carb is good but high fat is not good. He advised me to try “The Fast Diet” by Dr Michael Mosley it’s the official 5:2 diet.

  • I think things work differently for different people. I am trying to eat less processed foods. I feel better for doing it.

  • I’m a type 2 diabetic, with a family history of heart disease. My personal experience, is that since switching back to foods that aren’t heavily processed (in particular full fat unhomogenised milk and butter), my blood work has improved considerably. I also switched back to wholegrain breads, and rolled oats (the kind you have to soak) for breakfast, and I feel full for longer too. Not surprising actually as they are low GI foods ;)

I also make every effort to eat organic and grass fed meats, Aldi has a good range of both.

But I’m still no saint! I do love my icecream after all haha but the changes I’ve made have been working well for me.

  • yeah i hadn’t even heard of this diet before lol

  • I have been on light n easy, have dropped 3 dress sizes in 6 months, I only do it 5 days a week and enjoy whatever I want on my other 2 days. There is so much food that I don’t even get through it all each day. Other diets I’ve tried I have not been able to stick to for an extended period or any weight lost goes straight back on. Regular exercise is important though with any diet you choose.

  • To be honest I think the whole LCHF is another fad. It might work, but basically the principle of eating healthy is what should remain. I’ve done a round on Michelle Bridges 12WBT and I have to say that her program is fantastic. It doesnt feel like you are dieting or missing out on anything, the recipes are fantastic and you are always full after every meal. Theres loads of snacking options available too so that you get through the afternoon without feeling like you are missing out on a snack. Its a program where its easy NOT to fail. Just my thoughts.

  • Is it similar to a paleo diet?

  • I’ve now looked this up after the explanation from mom 88503. I’ve been thinking about the dilemma of low fat products verus high fat products for some time. I like the idea of more natural food like full fat yoghurt rather than low fat that usually seems to have more additives. Also when I started using coconut oil every day I lost 1.3 kgs in 2 weeks without making any other changes, but the weight loss then stopped. Not sure that I would eat the fat on meat though. But interested in the lchf approach, although I wish someone could tell me exactly whether wholegrain bread is good for us or not.

  • Is this what is followed on the one where you eat normal for so many days and then have so many days of really low intake??

  • Would love some more info on this diet. Have not heard of it.

  • Thanks MOM 88503 for the information; good to know what it means. :)

  • Low carb, high fat

  • I’ve not heard of it before.

  • What is a LCHF diet? Is it low carbohydrate high fibre?

  • Yes I have and I lost weight and felt great.
