  • We have been talking about replacing our mattress and have considered the online options. Thank you for asking this question as its provided me with some answers for our concerns.

  • The answers here are really helpful and I’m now considering one of these mattresses, too. We’re in the market to upgrade our bed and use ours for the spare room. I’ve been looking and testing out some in show rooms and have been really curious of the online ads I’m now getting. Really great question to ask

  • We LOVE our Ecosa mattress in a box, it’s s comfortable and was so easy to order, have delivered and set up.
It was a great price, around $100 where all other in store ones (that aren’t terrible for your back) are far more than that.
I like that they often have different toppers so you can choose what works for you – we were able to keep ours as it came but could make it softer or firmer at any time with a simple zip system.
    Good luck!!

  • I have just recently bought a Mattress in a Box I was sceptical at first but it was on sale so I thought why not and I am so glad that I did purchase one so so comfy and I have had a great nights sleep since I purchased it and dont wake up with a aching back,

  • Try and find one that is Australian made as you know the quality will be good. Do some research online and see what there is to offer. If you can hold off and aren’t in an ugly gent need for one the end of financial year sales will likely start in another month and you might be able to get a good discount on one.

  • I suggest that you do your research as here are so many available online. One concern is that they mostly come from overseas and are not Australian Made. If you want the edge to edge sleeping surface to be strong I doubt they have this and that why they fail. If you sit on the edge of the bed you fall/roll off. It’s better to try some instore and wait for bargains/sales and floor stock where they are really marked down. EOFY Sales have great bargains.

  • The other reason we like to try out and buy a mattress in a store is to get the best deals. This includes getting the store to remove the old mattress. Getting an old mattress removed and disposed of can be quite costly and we always go with having an old mattress removed quickly and at minimal cost.

  • Personally I never have bought a mattress online and like to try and feel the mattress in store. However my eldest two kids have bought mattresses online, but I’m not sure if it was from Mattress in a box. It can be a good option to buy a mattress online when you look at convenience and price, however it does involve risks

  • I must admit we do like to go to the various showrooms of stores that sell mattresses and try them out for comfort. It is important for us to see how a mattress feels and the level of comfort and back support. These features really can vary from store to store.

  • I think the best thing you can do is visit a show room for places like Snooze or Harvey Norman. That way you can try out the mattresses for yourself in store and see what feels best for you. There are so many different options on the market! I prefer ones with chiropractic support personally.

  • There are many differant brands of mattress that come delivered in a box.
I purchased one from Aldi for my daughters single bed many years ago and its still going strong and wonderfully comfortable.
They are heavy though so I had to ask a man in the carpark for help getting it into my car

  • I have heard taht one negative is that it’s almost impossible to pack it up again if you decide you want to return it. So I guess you need to be pretty sure before you buy – the return guarantee isn’t worth a lot if you can’t physically pack it for return.

  • I was very skeptical of those in a box too! As i had only previously bought them from mattress stores, then hated that i had to always pay delivery and lug a big mattress into the rooms needed. I bought the Aldi special buy ones for a spare room once and couldnt believe the quality! It was more comfortable than some mattresses ive bought in the past and doesnt ‘sink’ or feel weak on the edges. Do your research into reputable ones, but Aldi i can definitely recommend. More on a firm medium side of things.
