Hi I am wanting to move my toddler from her cot to a bed. Just after opinions on bed size/ mattress type and even where you purchased! Thanks

  • I used a convertible cot bed, which can be used till age 7yr or so. After that we used just a normal single bed. We like memory foam mattresses.

  • I transitioned to a toddler bed – uses the same mattress as the cot

  • My daughter went from a cot to a single bed when she was about three years of age. The single bed was an old spring one and quite low to the ground which I liked in case she fell out.

  • There’s only toddler bed or single, I wouldn’t get a double or king for a child

  • I am a huge fan of King SIngles. The children can use this up till they are teenagers.

  • My 2 kids went straight to a single bed from a cot. They were about 21mths old when they went to a single bed.
My daughter sleeps in my single bed that I has when I was little & my son sleeps in a ‘car’ bed that we purchased from gumtree.

  • We are getting our mattress’s from IKEA

  • Most of my friends with toddlers have gone straight for single beds, I think they outgrow the toddler beds too fast. SuperAmart seems to have a nice affordable range, it might just be a good idea to invest in a good waterproof mattress protector!

  • We went straight to a king single for our youngest as he had the base hat was his older brothers. It’s a good size through to the teens. Double bed quilt covers are the same size as king single too so make it easy to find.

  • I wouldn’t bother with a toddler bed. They grow so fast. We just got normal single beds for our girls and just asked at Forty winks for a recommendation for the mattresses.

  • Get a normal size bed, that they can grow into. Go to a decent bed store for advice on mattress etc

  • get the bed you are going to get rather than spending more money in 2 years when they grow out of it. they are fine in big beds. King singles will last through teen years and you can just replace the mattress.

  • Going straight to a single bed will save you money as your daughter gets older. Depends on where you live as to stores you want to go to if you’re going to buy a bed. In Adelaide there’s a store called “Dreamland”, which has a really good range.

  • I moved one of my kids into a king single, and he was fine… and I moved my second into a toddler bed (simply because we’d been given one) and he was also fine! I’m not sure size matters to the kids, but it would undoubtedly save money to go straight to a single or king single.

  • i can’t help you because my kids shared my bed but i am sharing this on my fb page as i know a few mums who have toddlers.
