Hello!

I have moved down onto an island where there are plenty of mosquitos. I have tried lighting coils, but they haven’t been greatly successful, and I can’t put them inside the house. I am also getting rid of any stagnant water on the property. Can anyone recommend a brand of mosquito band I can buy and wear?

  • Also keen to see the feedback on this one. Heading to Bali soon so need something for the kids. We use moogoo spray and that works well otherwise

  • We were talking about the bands recently with all the mosquitos around, all great answers!

  • I lived in QLD for 20 years, and bands didn’t work. RID is amazing, and grow some aloe vera – I used to break pieces off and have them in a dish on our out door table, everyone knew what to do….. simply break the piece open, and apply the gel to the bite. Oh, limited success to sandalwood really long incense sticks from bunnings, but be careful as you stake them into the ground – may need to consider higher option if you have kids and pets x

  • I’m interested in seeing the responses to this as well. It looks like Avon is a recommended brand. Good to know. :)

  • the avon repeliant is really good : )

  • How did you end up going?

  • Yes they do work i found!!

  • love the avon bug products

  • My daughter uses the Avon Bug Guard and swears by it! She is like a magnet to mozzies.

  • I have tried the Parakito and am not a fan, they smell really bad and mozzies still seam to attack

  • the para’kito bands are meant to be great

  • I absolutely swear by Avon Skin-So-Soft Bug Guard, as it’s got Citronella oil in it, and it also moisturized the skin. For the pain and itching of insect bites, McGloins Animine lotion, which has calamine and lignocaine, works really well.

  • I have never actually heard of them before many thanks will look into this one

  • Para’kito is all natural and can be worn as a band or hung on prams.

  • there are some good comments here

  • You get a lot for your money and Samurai Insect Trapper really does work and are really sticky!! Just try and stick your finger in it and you will see. Anyway, caught some flying insects and they are good!

  • Samurai Insect Trapper is similiar to pest control companies use. It is an easy alternative to pesticides. Pesticides can be harmful to people as well animals. Great product overall. It works immediately.

  • Yes they work!

  • Samurai Insect Trapper work great. I knew we had spiders but was shocked at how many. They are very, very sticky. I have used another brand but these are much better.

  • The sticky trap top side is strong enough to catch spiders, mosquitoes, flies which are what I wanted these for. The underside sticky strip (intended to allow it to be attached to a vertical surface?) is strong enough to hold on a wall. They caught many spiders, stinkbugs, and other insects. I am satisfied with Samurai Insect Trapper and I purchased these traps multiple times over the past year and a half.
