Hello!

I’m just wondering what other mums would expect/have paid for a personal trainer and what you got? Did you just get sessions with them yelling at your or did you get an actual program you could go in and do on other days? Did you get a meal plan or anything else? I really want to lose some weight but unsure what to expect if I go with a personal trainer. Thanks!

  • I’ve never used a personal trainer. From the comments they are expensive.

  • Having your own personal trainer would be a big plus,l would love to do it one day!

  • They should not yell at you – their job is to motivate. I have not heard of them yelling at people.

  • I have not used them – but have friends that do use them.

  • They generally range from $50-60 hour. Contrary to popular belief, they don’t yell at you! They work out a program for you that should suit your goals and current abilities. They will push you out your comfort zone but that’s what you want. Most will also give you advice about diet etc.

  • I pad $60 am hour. Whether I trained or spoke about diet and exercise outside of sessions

  • Prices aren’t the same for all as they set their own price but a group session would be heaps better and cheaper i believe.

  • A personal trainer is on average about $1 a minute. You can get one on one sessions or attend group sessions which can be anywhere from $10 up depending on when / where and how many others are in attendance. Some PT’s will still like to keep the group small so they can give you attention when you need it.
If you want to talk nutrition with your PT then ask them about it – some just have their basic training which they go when they did their course other’s will have done additional research and so have first hand knowledge about what does work.
A good PT will ask you about your goals and objections, what issues / hurdles you might have eg children, work etc and how best you can work together to achieve your goals. It should always be about you.

  • Try and go for a group session as you will get the same workout and save you $$$$. I go to the gym but a good friend of mine goes to group training sessions, has made some great friends and it is great motivation.

  • I am currently using a personal trainer through my gym that I joined and pay $50 for 45 minutes. My advice to you if you are serious and want to loose some weight and become healthier is find a gym that suits you. I started out going to Curves Women’s Gym where I felt comfortable enough to start out and get some fitness back in my life after doing nothing for serveral years. I now am at another gym where I have completed 2 12 Week Challenges and not only have I had amazing results with weight lose but also gained so much health wise. I do FUN RUNS.. I wouldn’t be where I am without the encouragement from my personal trainer. Not only do they get you exercising they teach the right ways to do them so you don’t hurt yourself. Everyone of them is different and offer things to help. At the end of the Day you are paying them for a service. Make sure you are clear at what you want when looking for one. Good luck with it

  • I use to have a personal trainer and it was around $50ph

  • I think they’re like $70 an hour…

  • I have never had one, but I do believe if you go to a gym then they give you a structured program and recommend a diet plan also
