My daughter screams when put into her own bed, what can I do?

Hello!

My 2 year old daughter used to sleep well in her big bed, but all of a sudden she started screaming every time we wanted her to go into her bed, even for her day sleep. I am at my wits end, neither hubby or I are getting much sleep with her sleeping in between us. She will only sleep in her bed if daddy or mummy is with her. She prefers to sleep between us or on the lounge room floor…..go figure…..I need help! Thanks.

Make her bedroom fun? Add a night light – is she scared of the dark. Tell her big girls stay in bed. Reward her for staying there?

We had a lot of trouble with our first child ( daughter ) and learnt from it and when our son was born , he was a cinch . Persistent in bed training , never ever put her in your bed not even once. That was how it became a problem , and it was a cheat way of quieting her . It took many months before she got into her own bed . Good advices below .

We had the same problem. Persistence is the key. Keep putting her back into her bed. Ignore the screaming, she thinks by screaming you will give in

You need to be stern yet loving with her.
My son was the exact same for a good 5+ months and it literally drove me insane.
I ended up doing a new routine, new set bedtime and everynight before putting him into bed, we would sit down with each other and I’d tell him that mummy and daddy are here for him at all times, night or day, but for all of us to be happy and rested, he needs to fall asleep in his own bed and not come out unless he has a sore tummy, or the sun is shining again.

Is it possible she has had nightmares ? Is she teething?
My 2 year old is super clingy at sleep time but has her 2 year old molars on their way

Does she have a comforter you csn slowly sub in for you and then move to the bed.

i know what that is like. they will run around happy all day and then become clingy when they are tired. See if you can get her to bed earlier.

Let her tell you why, and introduce a ‘her bed only’ item to help her feel safe, like the good old Glow Worm – these are cuddly, light up and kids love them. Also, have a radio/cd playing her favourite story or music to listen to as she falls asleep? Good luck 🙂

Your dilemma is my dilemma!! Miss 2 used to be so good. Now she needs me EVERY DAMN NIGHT! I’m lucky she’s in a double bed so somewhat comfortable (even though she needs to practically sleep on top of me). If you find some brilliant solution, let me know!

Maybe take her to buy a new doll that she can only have if she sleeps in her own bed? Lay with her for a little while, put some music on for her, play a dvd in her room and she may fall asleep to it, sit and stroke her back or massage her. goodluck XX
