Just replace the whole thing. It will save you from a headache in the future

The best washing line thread is the one that’s a wire base with plastic covering. It’s long lasting.

I see this is a very old question. I assume your washing line problem is fixed by now, lol !

You can buy washing line thread from most hardware stores at very low prices.

Try and fix it at a low price and if it doesn’t work buy a new one!

Do not buy a new one. Go to bunnings and buy a new thread for it, it will cost very cheaply compared to buying a new one..

If you don’t want to tie the lines back up or are worried about odd knots, often you can buy a roll of the line in Bunnings or your local hardware store and rethread the washing line yourself. Try and take a little length of your broken line to the store and get some help to match it to one that will fit in yours.

I suppose if you can tie it up and it still works then go for it – otherwise you can usually buy replacement clips and/or lines from Bunnings and fix yourself.

It could be worth getting a quote to repair – my parents have a large hills hoist and it was cheaper to get repaired than replaced. Depends on what type of clothes line you have and how well the rest of it will last for too.
